Russia Vetoes UN Resolution to Investigate Syrian Gas Attack on Civilians & Children

Putin doesn't even want the Syrian gas attacks investigated, what is Putin hiding? Sounds like Putin did the gassing not Assad. No other reason Putin wouldn't want U.N. investigating.

But Lavrov said Russia ?insists? there be an investigation.

?As for the investigation into the incident, there is a fact-finding mission of the OPCW, there is also a joint mechanism for an investigation set out together by the OPCW and the United nations,? Lavrov said.

1:40 p.m. Lavrov called the talks between Tillerson and himself ?constructive.? Lavrov said they have ?touched on? the chemical gas attack that took place in Syria last week, and the ensuing U.S. missile strike on a Syrian airbase.

?We have stated our position on many occasions,? Lavrov said, saying Russia wants a ?frank investigation? of the chemical attack by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Russia vetoed a UN resolution Wednesday that would have required Syria to cooperate with investigators and face full accountability after a brutal chemical attack in that country.

It's the eighth time Russia has vetoed a proposed Security Council resolution on Syria.
The resolution, crafted by the United States, United Kingdom and France, was circulated to the 15 member countries of the Security Council on Tuesday.

Western ambassadors blasted Russia earlier Wednesday for continuing to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad

The security council veto rule needs to be replaced with a 3/4 yes vote super-majority rule.

Or, the UN is to be considered an advisory body.

Why does Putin say nothing can be proven then veto an investigation to verify the truth?

Putin is hiding the fact that either Russia released the chemical weapons themselves or knew they were going to be administered violating U.N. treaties for members use of chemical weapons which means Russia can be removed from NATO for such violations, they would be the first.

Syria said to have Iraq arms - tribunedigital-chicagotribune

Quote:

Syria said to have Iraq arms
Ex-official cites satellite images
October 29, 2003|By Douglas Jehl, New York Times News Service.

WASHINGTON — The director of a top U.S. spy agency said Tuesday that he believes that material from Iraq's illicit weapons program had been transported into Syria and perhaps other countries as part of an effort by the Iraqis to disperse and destroy evidence immediately before the recent war.

The official, James Clapper Jr., a retired lieutenant general, said satellite imagery showing a heavy flow of traffic from Iraq into Syria, just before the U.S. invasion in March, led him to believe that illicit weapons material "unquestionably" had been moved out of Iraq ...
Autopsies and forensic evidence all prove the nerve agent Sarin was used -- by whom is the question and one UN investigation has already been vetoed by the Russians who would be able to give access to the area chemical weapons were used (or dispersed) last week. That is strong circumstantial evidence of guilt :2 cents:

Rochard 04-12-2017 02:38 PM

Why wouldn't they want this investigated? Don't they want the truth to come out?

wehateporn 04-12-2017 07:35 PM

Are you intentionally hiding the real reason for the Veto or do you not know? So far this thread is fake news

Paul Markham 04-13-2017 12:22 AM

Of course he doesn't want an investigation. It might reveal the Russians were complicit.

pimpmaster9000 04-13-2017 02:19 AM

LOL why would pooty let the same guys "investigate" that said Saddam had WMD? The same guys who destabilized Syria in the first place? The same people who false flagged the attack on dozens of tactically insignificant targets...It is amusing to see western people pretend that they have an ounce of credibility ...

The UN was just a waste of time albeit a necessary step.
Putin has his back to the sea in Syria.
Iraqi and Kurdish troops are advancing from the east and north east with US led coalition air support -- they may not stop at Raqqa.
Throw Assad under the Bus and maybe Russia gets to keep its air and navy bases in the settlement to come -- time is running out.

Where do you think the terrorists in Chechnya and Dagestan are getting their money from -- Iran the Persian Empire's modern day successor. You took their lands in war. And they are Putin's BFF Assad's allies. The Russian people are getting played by Putin.

Quote:

As Russia set off for the first time to increase its political influence in the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea at the expense of Safavid Persia, Peter I launched the Russo-Persian War (1722–1723), in which Russia succeeded in taking much of the Caucasian territories from Iran for several years. Notable in Chechen history, this particular Russo-Persian War marked the first military encounter between Imperial Russia and the Vainakh.[30]

As the Russians took control of the Caspian corridor and moved into Persian-ruled Dagestan, Peter's forces ran into mountain tribes. Peter sent a cavalry force to subdue them, but the Chechens routed them.[30] In 1732, after Russia already ceded back most of the Caucasus to Persia, now led by Nader Shah, following the Treaty of Resht, Russian troops clashed again with Chechens in a village called Chechen-aul along the Argun River.[30] The Russians were defeated again and withdrew, but this battle is responsible for the apocryphal story about how the Nokchi came to be known as "Chechens"-the people ostensibly named for the place the battle had taken place. The name Chechen was however already used since as early as 1692.[30]

War in itself is not a crime or illegal. There is no law that says one country cannot make war with another country.

I understand you guys have a self perceived sense of intelligence but on cnn it shows the vote itself. What exactly is fake about that? the vote was over the investigation in to the attacks.

Trumps hand picked representative for the UN even states it after:

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told the council that "with its veto, Russia said no to accountability, Russia said no to cooperating with the UN investigation, Russia said no to helping keep peace in Syria, Russia chose to side with (Syrian President Bashar al-) Assad, even as rest of the world, even the Arab world, comes together to condemn the murderous regime."
