|

These look great value, I'm guessing Amazon aren't making a huge profit on the tablets themselves, I got an email from a local store saying they've reduced the Fire 7 (2017) to 45 bucks |
They're crap. No offense.
I got one super cheap on an Amazon lightening deal and never use it. They're heavy, slow, the screan isn't responsive to taps (you have to tap hard) and you have to use Amazon apps, no Android. But you might like it and find it handy. |

I had one of these years ago and I loved it.

I might also use it for watching Amazon videos too with some headphones, this house is pretty noisy so it can be hard to focus on the main TV. |
I have one of the first generation Fires and it is pretty cool. I wouldn't suggest it if you are looking for a great tablet (although, as you said the new versions fix a lot of the issues the old versions had) this might not be it, but if you want a good ebook reader they are nice and they are easy to use.
One thing to take into consideration: It works great for books bought from Amazon, but if you are going to view PDFs or books that you get from other sources, it can be a bit of a pain in the ass to get them to work. |
ya i'm thinking about getting a fire 8 cause i saw they were on sale too.. I have a nice samsung tablet with the up to date software but the headphone jack went out on it.. so i'd like it just as a music player and maybe books

I got an Amazon Fire 8 for my kid. It's much better than the old version. The only downside is the glass. I never know how good my ipad/iphone glass was til I looked at the Fire on an airplane. The reflection off the glass is very high.
