One Christmas when I was a kid we had just finished opening up presents when there was a ringing from the basement. We ran down there and it was a Star Trek Pinball machine. Turns out my father's shop was next to a place that repaired jukeboxes and pinball machines, so my step-father bought one. We played that thing for years.

When I was teen there was an arcade around the beach area. There you could play some really cool games or even cut a record of yourself talking or maybe singing. But the greatest part was that the women were plentiful and for the price of a game or two there was always a lovely lady willing to have a go with you.

There was a sort-of pinball revival when I was a "kid" (I was already tired and weary on the inside) and I kinda enjoyed it ...

GFED 10-24-2017 12:15 PM

Play all day on a quarter. Great game.

TheDynasty 10-24-2017 12:17 PM

Great fun!

I loved pinball. I was actually quite good at it, and back in 2011 / 2013 I represented my county at the UK Pinball League competition :)

bns666 10-24-2017 12:37 PM

definitely :thumbsup

I built an 80's stand-up arcade game, powered by a Raspberry Pi 3, in my man-cave. Love it.

You love me. You really really love me.

There's a growing Virtual Pinball community. Visual Pinball, Future Pinball, Pinball Arcade - etc., all emulated with the original ROMs. You can play hundreds of the classics on a single machine. Customize as much as you want - shakers, tilt sensors, true DMD, backglass ... They aren't the originals, but get pretty close, and maintenance is much easier. I play these emulators on my PC but want to build (or buy) a dedicated cabinet.

I was gonna build one once. I got the TV to go in it, and ordered a wide boy body from a dealer online, but the body never showed up and I kinda lost interest. If I see a built and configured one I can just buy, then I will probably get it, but I cant be assed to get all motivated for a build again.

I think i played my first pinball when i was only 5 years old. I think it's much more fun then game arcades . I had also fun with PC pinball games, like pinball fantasy and pinball extreme.

It's not the same.

I think I'm going to buy myself a pinball machine. But I'm going to look for something old from the 1960s.

Mediamix 10-25-2017 05:08 AM

I still have the Terminator pinball machine. :thumbsup

Could you help me with something?

Certain games, such as Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator, Star Wars, and a few others won't play properly.

The game starts up and runs its demo mode no problem, but "Insert Coin" is mapped to a different key, usually right-shift. If that works (if), then there seems to be no way to actually start the game - no key at all starts it.

Other games like Joust, Defender, Stargate, Donkey Kong, Frogger etc, all run perfectly. What am I doing wrong?
