California's bullet train (and biggest boondoggle) is over budget by billions
|
We're lucky enough here in my town to have elected a female from California who has great aspirations of burying us in debt like her home state. She has one of these useless billions of dollars train plans coming up for a vote in a few months... She decided a train boondoggle wasn't enough. She's going to slap the "big dig" on top of it and bore under the city for said train. We're in for a double boondoggle.

Well, it is California so....

Of course it's billions over budget. This is a massive project.
This is long over due. Why don't we have this all over the country? I live in Norcal and travel to SoCal all the time - It's horrible. Oddly enough Vendzilla is complaining about it, yet.... It's right in line with the infrastructure projects Trump is talking about. |

California is a state where when the federal taxes are lowered for corporations, a couple shit for brains decide to try and get half that money in new taxes for the state to fund projects like this. California Democrats want some businesses to fork over half tax-cut savings to state | Fox News |

My mother worked for a power company that built power plants in California, Arizona, and Nevada. The amount of money it took to string up power lines was massive. It's not just he cost of putting the lines in, it's getting access to the land to do it. Quote:

Considering we're on the verge of driverless cars, does it really make sense to invest in trains and monorails?

There was a time when we didn't have freeways connecting our major cities. I'm sure they said the same exact crap too - It's over budget and not worth it. Bullshit. Eventually we will have high speed trains running from San Diego to LA to Bakersfield to San Fran to Sacramento to Portland to Seattle. Phoenix and Vegas too. Then from there out to Texas and then New Orleans and Florida. Trump wants infrastructure, well, here it is. This is what infrastructure looks like. Let's build. Let's build something fantastic. |
