We're lucky enough here in my town to have elected a female from California who has great aspirations of burying us in debt like her home state. She has one of these useless billions of dollars train plans coming up for a vote in a few months... She decided a train boondoggle wasn't enough. She's going to slap the "big dig" on top of it and bore under the city for said train. We're in for a double boondoggle.

Helix 01-21-2018 06:38 PM

Well, it is California so....

Of course it's billions over budget. This is a massive project.

This is long over due. Why don't we have this all over the country? I live in Norcal and travel to SoCal all the time - It's horrible.

Oddly enough Vendzilla is complaining about it, yet.... It's right in line with the infrastructure projects Trump is talking about.

That's the entire purpose of the proposal. Train ride to other less populated counties (train in cheaper labor).. And those counties don't foot the bill. We do. The idea is so those in outlaying areas don't congest downtown with traffic during rush hour but the real problem is 2 major interstates 65 and 40 go right into downtown.. It would be a lot less costly to reroute the interstates and make the current loops local bypasses but nah they'll throw billions at this first only to figure out it won't help one bit once completed in 10-15 years after even more growth.

Trumplestiltskins are only for THEIR infrastructure when it's their infrastructure and benefits them they don't give a fuck about anyone else. They're all just following Putin's orders whatever he says goes they'll change their mind the next day with no regret no morals no integrity Putin's orders. Little yapping dogs following commands.

I'm complaining about the people running the project, please try to comprehend that!

California is a state where when the federal taxes are lowered for corporations, a couple shit for brains decide to try and get half that money in new taxes for the state to fund projects like this.

I don't think that a state that drove the $11.4 billion film industry out of California, dove the $10 billion porn industry out of California actually caused a state wide drought with all the issues to protect some tide water fish, fights the federal government about having a border knows, what the fuck they are doing...

Of course there are going to cost over runs. This is massive project.

My mother worked for a power company that built power plants in California, Arizona, and Nevada. The amount of money it took to string up power lines was massive. It's not just he cost of putting the lines in, it's getting access to the land to do it.

And? What the fuck do you care? Are you really concerned that businesses raking in millions and billions of dollars are going to be taxed? If Apple has to be an extra billion dollars in taxes do you think I care?

We had a monorail that was going to be built here in Florida. It was going to go from the east coast beaches to Tampa and have stops in orlando, Disney and go to Miami .. It was paid for, all the property was bought, the engineering was done.. Then the dumb Republican Rick Scott killed it..

Considering we're on the verge of driverless cars, does it really make sense to invest in trains and monorails?

Of course it does. Even with a driverless we'll still have to spend eight hours on a busy freeway with lots of trucks. Imagine being able to cut down drive time by two thirds?

There was a time when we didn't have freeways connecting our major cities. I'm sure they said the same exact crap too - It's over budget and not worth it. Bullshit. Eventually we will have high speed trains running from San Diego to LA to Bakersfield to San Fran to Sacramento to Portland to Seattle. Phoenix and Vegas too. Then from there out to Texas and then New Orleans and Florida.

Trump wants infrastructure, well, here it is. This is what infrastructure looks like. Let's build. Let's build something fantastic.
