Guess who has gone Vegan?

On January 1st my wife and I went Vegan. Over a month later I've stuck to it, my wife, not so much. First week of January I weighed 236 lbs, yesterday I was down to 222 lbs.

It's really not that difficult being Vegan. The best part is no fast food at all, which hasn't been too difficult. For breakfast I have oatmeal and fruit, for lunch I have soup, and dinner most nights is a shake. Anything in-between is usually fruit. No soda. No fucking Doritos too, which I miss.

I still have the occasional pizza, but when I do it's vegetarian. In fact, I've been playing around with a potato based crust which has been interesting.

mineistaken 02-05-2018 10:05 AM

fake pizza guy exposed

mineistaken 02-05-2018 10:06 AM

Why do you attribute your weight loss to veganism and not to cutting on sodas, doritos, crappy fast food.

I know way too many overweight vegans.

There is some myth that if you are vegan, you are automatically healthy. Poor delusional souls.

PR_Glen 02-05-2018 10:11 AM

i think there is a type-o in your weights... heh

I couldn't be vegan but I am vegetarian - bizarrely because I don't really like the taste of meat.

If you went from 336 to 222 in 1 month I'd go see a doctor asap. Sounds more like a dirty disease than being a vegan :Oh crap

SpicyM 02-05-2018 10:24 AM

So.. you believe you have lost weight cause you are vegan... Not because you stopped eating junk food? Well, you are so wrong here.

Being vegan does not have anything to do with losing weight. Removing junk food full of shitty carbs and fats does.

Since you also removed high quality sources of protein from your diet (chicken, eggs, milk products ... ) and replaced it with soy, enjoy your man boobs very soon.. :winkwink:

TheDynasty 02-05-2018 10:25 AM

I quit eating meat on the 1st tired of eating it all it does is make me sick thinking about the animal im eating uhh switched to soy trying to impliment new things into my diet trying new things to eat that will give me the protein i'm losing with the meat. Keep it up please share some good veegan recipes.

Sly 02-05-2018 10:34 AM

I think he meant 236.

The Porn Nerd 02-05-2018 10:36 AM

What, Donald Trump went vegan?

That's awesome! Keep up the good work :) I am mostly Vegan (with the exception of when I am out of town, at family gatherings, or when I am going out to eat) and it's really helpful being conscious of what you're eating and how much. And as dorky as they are, fitbits are a great tool. I do this along with intermittent fasting.

I think it's a combination of eating better AND cutting out the crap. I love Pepsi and drink a lot of Pepsi.

The weather has gotten better here in Northern California, so I am back to my bike riding and basketball every chance I get.

I think it's a combo of things - eating better, not eating crap, and exercise.

The goal is weight loss. Four or five years ago I was 275 lbs - I was fucking huge. I need to be in the 200 pound range.

Dropping soda alone can make you drop several pounds within a month.

I did the same thing on the same day, but not because I needed to lose any weight, more so because I've been on a quest for optimal nutrition and this was a step I knew I'd eventually take.

Also, if you're still eating an occasional pizza, then you aren't vegan.

What do you eat for a protein source? Soy? lol like someone else said ...enjoy your bitch tits.

GAMEFINEST 02-05-2018 10:53 AM

If you cut back on fast food and eat more salads and work out and eat healthy
you will lose weight.

Vegan has nothing to do with it.

MrBottomTooth 02-05-2018 10:57 AM

What is the correlation between soy and bitch tits? I don't eat it thankfully.

All protein originates from plants. You're assuming that being vegan means not having protein sources, and that's nonsense. I'm vegan and I don't eat any soy and I get just as much protein as I did before without eating any meat or dairy. The largest creatures on earth are herbivores, gorillas, elephants, rhinos and hippos. Milk was designed by nature to take a 65lb calf to a 400lb cow in one year, is this really what we as humans should be drinking?

Soy contains a hormone that acts similar to estrogen. Too much estrogen, bigger breasts.

My estrogen levels were high due to experimenting with testosterone therapy. The 1st thing my doctor asked me was "do your breasts hurt? Have they gotten larger?" Went on blockers, problem solved.

Well I would've stayed off the blockers and enjoyed my new man boobies. In fact, I'd never leave the house! :)

They make vegan everything really. They have crusts made out of flak seed and cauliflower, vegan sauce (which is basically tomatos), and then vegan cheese.

Yes, I'm aware of that, it sounded like you were saying the pizza you ate was occasionally cheating on your vegan diet, my mistake.

It's tough. I did it for a good portion of last year. I lost about 25 pounds and then gained it back, basically. Busy re-sorting myself out, now... need to be more active and either stick with Vegan or not.

Brad

Rochard, how much SOY do you consume? This is serious shit!!!

Paul Markham 02-05-2018 11:24 AM

Check that you are getting enough protein of the right kind. Not anything out of a packet.

XIndustryJOBS-Eddie 02-05-2018 11:25 AM

good for you! been Vegetarian for MANY years, and part time Vegan ;)

BlackCrayon 02-05-2018 11:43 AM

no one should be drinking soda, its just worthless garbage. i never touch the stuff myself. If I'm going to drink anything other than water, its a beer and that is only occasionally.

I'm happy for you Rochard this is awesome!

If you want motivation to stay vegan watch the movie Okja on Netflix. Don't research it or read about it in advance, just watch it. I'm not joking.

god.. you can start by avoiding soy... there is absolutely nothing healthy about that shit...

nuts and seeds are a better source of protein at least but not much will replace the b vitamins and iron you are going to be missing. Our bodies are designed for meat despite what the hippies keep trying to tell us.

There is also a thing called vegetarian, not sure why come people only see the 2 extremes (either meat or vegan).

Ps: it was most likely that you ate less calories when vegan, and more when back to normal, not because of vegan magic.

Why did you jump straight to veganism instead of trying vegetarian diet first (and to "acclimatize" ) ?

Yeah, and those animals are genetically superior to handle eating and processing that kind of diet because they have been doing it for hundreds of thousands of years. You started what? 40 days ago? I'm pretty sure evolution doesn't work that fast...

and your research sucks, protein isnt' the issue. B vitamins and iron are.

Everything helps when you are trying to lose weight and get healthy. However I lost 50 pounds in 3 months by eating healthy, cutting the soda and fast food, and exercising a couple hours a day.

I still ate chicken and turkey. On my cheat day (to confuse my metabolism) I would eat filet mignon and up the calorie intake.

You certainly don't have to be a vegan to lose a massive amount of weight in a very short period of time.

Congrats on the weight loss!

This is true. After I lost 50 pounds and had cut out all processed foods, I went to Sonic and got a burger, fries and a milkshake. I felt sick as fuck afterwards.

People are killing themselves, and you cant fucking argue with most of them.

Keep eating your corn syrup people!!
