USD is going down the drain

It's getting less & less comfortable living in the EU with USD as an income source.
I started to consider Mexico, ideas, places?

Who is in Mexico?

Maga!!!!

Klen 03-26-2018 05:15 AM

Well China said how they going "after" USD, so yes it will probably end in bananas. But dont give a fuck as i dealing with EUR mostly, i determined how EUR is more stable currency on long term. And it's free to send/receive EUR in Europe while USD cost.

Lived in Cancun, Mexico City, Playa Del Carmen for 12 months over the past 2 years. Ready enjoyed PDC and its relaxed caribbean vibe. USD can still go far in Central/South America.

Traveling through Europe now...

I have got in touch with several digital nomads living in PDC, was also given a superb note about it - price wise - very doable and dollar is still a king.

Basically its a subsidiary of America in there they said.

Long term stay - gotta find out about.

Almost anyplace stable gets more expensive - I wouldn't live in Mexico for any money. Sarn says Russia is ok now, less crime. Georgia is cheap and stable. Argentina is still great but somewhat less stable. Northern Philippines is good.

BaldBastard 03-26-2018 07:19 AM

petro-yuan just released as well.

Trump made it clear during the elections that he thought the USD was valued to high, asked if he would devalue his reply was "We'll See", should come as no shock USD is going down and don't expect the Fed to do much about it.

Tasty1 03-26-2018 07:47 AM

As digital nomad i went 2 times in Mexico for 6 months the last 3 years. Mexico is the easiest country regarding visa's. As long you do a visa run every 6 months, you can come back. But espacially in high season Yucatan can be more expensive cause all of Americans and Canadians staying the winter there. But if you can rent something long term it must be ok. I had a studio for 400 usd a month 15 minute walk from the beach. near the beach prices are higher ofcourse. A friend wanted to buy real estate in PDC, but the prices are high. First time i was in PDC 25 years ago it was just 1 street and a ferry to cozumel.

Isla Mulheres is nice, but could become too small for you. Cozumel the same. The Island Holbox is developping, not good internet yet and high prices. Just go there and have a look some months :) Merida could also be an option for you. But don't forget, is realy hot some parts, and not the nice heat. PDC you pay high prices to sit on a beach full of stinking seaweed. Therefor Isla Muljeres and Cozumel have nicer beaches. Some part of the beaches in PDC are better kept.

The other part Puerto Vallarta / Sayulita could also be interesting. But the realy cheap parts are at the other coast, Puerto Escondido, Huatulco, Zipolite. I saw a lot of retirees in San Miguel de Allende, but no beaches there but good climate.

I also stayed some months in mexico City. But when i was there during the earthquake i left. I would never live in Mexico City, not an experience i want again. I was in hurricane season in PDC, but nothing happened.

Brazil has become cheap cause the BRL went down harder than USD or Euro. Is 40% cheaper there than 5 years ago. And i expect the BRL to go down more, this year there are elections.

Personaly i wouldn't live in PDC long time. Too many tourist, not a nice heat, busy stinking beaches and i want more green around me.

RandyRandy 03-26-2018 08:19 AM

The USD goes a long way in Caracas. . .

Thanks, interesting experience. I have a family with kids, visa run is not fun to do :) So, have to find out business visa / residence.

I'm a Ukrainian citizen, could live a year round in Georgia without any extra paperwork, IT wise - they had zero tax for new companies, may be now it's 10% as you say, generally speaking I would be OK there. Batumi - damn, fairly cheap homes on a spot or no credit check home loans :)

I want to travel to the Ukraine someday you have some of the most beautiful architecture I've seen. When is the best time to visit Ukraine? Where is the best place that you like the most in Ukraine?

Tasty1 03-26-2018 10:19 AM

I must read about Georgia, they are changing the rules. I put a new link, it says no tax on foreign income. I was also looking into Georgia but it doesn't look that nice to me to live 6 months a year.

I am alone, makes things a lot easier if you want to travel. Cyprus is getting popular also.

Cyprus is full of Russians. Fuck that place.
In Georgia, open a company, pay zero tax on foreign income, get a residence permit.

Everyone needs to stop using USD as it's goto currency and using it as the default.

My wife has grown there. I've been there too when I was a kid. Georgia is a veeeeeeeery specific place. If you were not born in Soviet Union, don't even try to live there.

I can't sign for the whole Russia, but big cities (these where 1 million or more inhabitants) are really ok. And course there is Moscow. Moscow is not real Russia like NYC is not real USA and London is not real UK. These are major centers of the World - like countries inside of a country.

How did they feel safety wise? I've thought about living in PDC and places like it, but I keep hearing that they are getting more and more dangerous.

I'd want to keep my family safe while there.

PDC is saver than some USA cities and schools. If you keep away from drugs, most will be fine. Altough they put a bomb on the ferry to cozumel some weeks ago. Could be the competition. And you must choose your neighbourhood wisely, look where the other Gringo's are staying. There are living thousands of foreigners in Playa del Carmen permanently and a lot have a business there. During high season, december - april, there are tens of Thousand people from Canada, USA and Europe that are looking for a warmer climate.

I stayed 3 months in PDC and a friend of mine just returned. Nothing about unsafety. But it can Always change when a gang war starts.

I am in Thailand. Here you don't see much hard crime. But Thailand is the country with the most (deadly) motorbike accidents. Every time when it rains on the Island i could see a lot of people in bandages the next day. I think more tourist in Thailand get killed by motobikes than by crime in PDC. I was on Koh Samui last month and there a Thai jetski businessman was shot on the most popular beach by a thai competitor.

You never know what happens. In the small city in Holland where i lived the neighbour got shot in his car in front of the apartments. Criminal payback.

https://www.farang-deaths.com/cause/road-accident/

This could also happen;

"Chon Buri - A 71-year-old Italian retiree collapsed and died while he was having sexual intercourse with a 22-years-old sex worker at his house in Chon Buri province"

Well, there was some cosmetic renovation in Lviv, it's good in the central area, very good actually. But I prefer smaller towns at some point, hence, Chernivtsy.

When I say 'good' I don't want anyone to be confused, it is as good as a low profile country can be, not more than that.

I've been to Georgia 4 times, spent some time in Tbilisi and made several tours across the country. In my opinion it's okay, I could live there, but it's on the edge of okay, it' not a western quality of anything really. Food and wine can be real good, people were good as I recall.

Montenegro. A shithole, mate. I would not go. Residence is easy to get.

I still like the idea of Italy the most. But 'liking' and 'making it' are two different sides of story.

You'd be surprised I was thinking even about Kenya and Rwanda.
