Name a job that can't be automated / outsourced / reduced to low wage work?
Politician is the only 'job' I can think of...
SOMEBODY has to count all that dirty kickback money, you know :winkwink: Can you think of others? |

A plumber, electrician and auto mechanic come to mind.
These are all jobs that take a decent amount of training to do so you can't just quickly replace them with cheaper workers, and I can't see them being replaced by a machine anytime soon. |

I would also kill to have a power line out to the corner of my back yard. It's only sixty feet but... How could a robot do it? |
I read a book about this and it said if you work in front of a computer with a eventually you won't needed. Those jobs are actually easier for robots to then manual jobs. They spoke how a 8 year old could pick bins better than the robots the Amazon tried using.
I read about a computer diagnosising better than a doctor. It had more information. People think oh it will be those min wage workers who want more money but no it will be the good middle class white collar jobs. |

Amazing that you guys can even use the internet.
Every single job listed uses advanced modern technology that didn't exist 30 years ago, if you think that's changing or the world is standing still your sadly wrong. Many already use robots or at least mechanical tools to do a job faster and better than in the past. |

no job is safe simply because the market will shrink regardless...
you can be the best computer programmer in the world but who is going to buy your shit?....if you put all the low skill people out of work, lets say its 30% of all homo sapiens, the other 70% are going to have to pick up the costs of their UBI or welfare or whatever...then the 70% will have less purchasing power...this in turn will put more people out of business...and so on and so on... here is an accurate representation: http://i.imgur.com/POng9wL.jpg |

Electrician has not changed as much imo. It also requires very little repair so you have less need probably. |

Within the next few years with ai they will. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-switch/wp/2016/03/28/its-game-over-for-the-robot-intended-to-replace-anesthesiologists/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.1cc0824533d7 This was perfect and it only stopped because poor sales but time change that. Computers learning to code themselves https://futurism.com/4-our-computers-are-learning-how-to-code-themselves/ It's magical and scary at the same time. So it ain't just the burger flippers. |

I'd like to say SEO. But I cannot. Because I know I could write something to do it.

Sommelier or similar jobs..

Good question...
Robots are becoming better every day and what used to be impossible just a few years ago. AI is smart enough to pass the turring test and debate humans, make reservations, etc. Computer generated images perfectly recreate places & objects and are a year or so away from doing the same to people (Thanks, Marvel!). We're doomed. |

If we get to the point where AI is writing code for us, humans won't be doing ANYTHING anymore. My parents cautioned me when I was 12 years old that programming jobs would get outsourced to india...here I am at 30 years old and the programming job market in the US is better than ever. Programming is half communication and understanding requirements; you can't put an ocean and language barrier between teams and expect good results. |
