Google clarifies policy re SEO value of user generated content

Hmmm... I wonder what the impact on COMMENT POLICING will be? Some sites might just shut down comments altogether?

Google's John Mueller said again that any type of bad content on your site, be it content you write yourself or content published by users - i.e. user generated content, can be used to judge your site. He said the content displayed is what Google uses "for your website's crawling, indexing, and ranking."

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh I get where you're coming from but... what about negative SEO?

Also, this user engagement and community building are the lifeblood of many sites.

Basically, forums and other such micro-social media sites (the originators of this shit) are being flushed down the toilet. Disqus too. I guess they want everybody on fb, ig, yt, snap and twitter?

For those of you following the #VerifiedHate campaign on Twitter, (((Barry Schwartz))) makes the list. He hates white people.

He's no different from his fellow Jewish propagandists in other parts of the media, and that's why he's their go-to guy for SEO. Don't believe a word written by this rat-faced kike.

I'm not sure. Lots of stuff on Wikipedia are copied and pasted from somewhere else. Same goes for Quora (which ranks really well!).

If you think about it, being able to skew search results artificially should not be allowed.
Trumps claim could be a issue of 'poor seo' could it not ?
or
A much better seo by others ?

SEO should be a published standard with rules. Break the rules and loose your rank.
You should have a right to challenge the 'rules'.
But everyone should know how the game works.

There was a lot of money changing hands last election just to get SEO and skewed results on Facebook, Google and others, just to get disinformation out there. Some that post here at GFY took part in that.

While this process should be looked at, I don't trust the current admin to be the decider of how that is to work, or the government in general.

I got my rude awakening on how SEO can be massively manipulated as I watched the BP Gulf oil spill play out 10 years ago. Certain issues of countless negligence all over the US by BP I knew were all over the web, suddenly were drowned out buy thousands articles optimized showing BP's efforts to help the environment. They could not lower the SEO of those sites, but they could inject more stuff to make it hard to find. And they did just that. Could have been a good chance to make a few bucks with a lot of dead webs and some SEO work.

At that time I knew it was a dangerous thing to be able to hide facts on the web of sites you had no control over. Knowing at that time if the politicians ever got use of these methods, it was not going to turn out well for 'the people'.

Shows the power of money to hide facts, does it not.

If we all make it past this, and we will...

You have many other challenges in tech. Especially when it comes to face recognition and the fact that they can sorta determine your thinking via facial responses to things presented to you in real time. And can track you in multiple places all linked via web, via stores you shop, public spaces and perhaps gadgets you use at home.
(this is where those wacked-out reports of facebook mind reading came from)

So someone/anyone can craft a message to you that you will respond in a way that is favorable to the wishes of the perpetrator. Designed for use in advertising, can you see political implications ?

LOL... something to look forward to. But you would be surprised how accurate this tech was even 4 years ago. getting better everyday. A need for regulation ? All biometerics should have regulation !
But while nobody knows that it's not only possible, but being live tested as I try to inform others, there will never be a outcry for regulation until it is learned the biometric data has already been collected on the majority of people without there knowledge and emotional response data is part of that ongoing effort to determine who you are and how you think.
Sounds beyond belief, doesn't it.
Don't take my word for it but watch for it.
Harmless some might say, but really think on this one. Can you afford to be wrong ?
