Mechbunny And Themes For It

Another biz thread! :pimp

My site is growing so fast and videos are harder to update via wordpress with some of it's bloat. So I'm considering mechbunny. I can afford to buy it.

I emailed them questions but I want to know:

- would a developer like that be able to help me with easy transition from wordpress to mech and replicate url slugs? Tags and all that. Even if I paid?
- Do you think the script will work better and smoother and less bloated than wordpress?
- Not a question but I want seamless user uploads, do you think they are smooth and easy to do?
- Do they offer true watermarking?
- Who do you know who does themes for Mech? Or can they be bought somewhere?

Thanks all.

depends on what is slowing your site down, if its pageviews then add caching if its encoding and stuff then get a real tube script but that too totally depends on how many videos you have or planning to upload.

but for tube site , tube script is always better.

1) yes, slugs, tags can be able to match to your old wp setup, but doing 301 to new names and adding videos is better.

2) yes, i have said it many times , wp is bloated shit.

3) user uploads are easy

4) what is true watermarking ?

5) there was guys here who used to sell mech themes for 99 bucks ., i dont recall his site, but konrad might be help you here.

what do you mean by growing so fast ? how many hits ? per day maybe keeping same setup and moving to dedicated server will solve your issue.

last time i moved from nubiles to tube script i lost all my traffic , offcourse i didnt keep old url structure.

Thanks, my server can handle the traffic, I get 6-10k visitors a day. But there's a slowdown and bloat to my wordpress installation storing sql data.

I have a server already with great specs and good support.

I find adding videos is just purely a pain in the ass with wordpress. I use wp-script and it's great but i just don't like wordpress for these tasks.

I'm chatting with mechbunny now and they can create an import tool and keep the permas the same.

True watermarking - i dont want the video watermarked by the player (overlay) i want it encoded in the video.

Some of my hardest tasks that take my time is video encoding watermarks / and convert to mp4, jumping all over the place in wordpress fields, creating thumbnails and stuff like that. Plus wordpress is kinda shitty for user uploads.

Thanks for your reply!

Bump for business thread since there are so few of them any more :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Konrad and his team are top notch :thumbsup I'd would think that they could do anything you need them too.

My MB installs scream compared with my WP installs, even when I load up something like supercache on WP to speed it up. I also notice at night when my traffic is low, I still run a .9 to 1.5 on the load level with my WP server, but the MB server drop's down to nothing when traffic falls off.

MB uploads seem to work really smoothly, I don't allow user uploads on any of my tubes, but I've tested them out in case I do in the future :) And all the options for me to upload via FTP or CSV make adding my content super easy and fast!!

MB can do either overlay on the stream, or when you upload you can customize a png to be included in the FFMPEG conversion so the watermark is hard coded into the video. I've customised the FFMPEG statement to also allow me to slide on a pre and post roll since I'm doing mostly paysites.

mechtemplates has a handful of templates from $30 to $80 a piece.

MB use to have a handful of templates but I haven't seen them online in quite a while, not sure why, I would think that there should be more people making MB templates with as many installs as there are, but for some reason there aren't :Oh crap

The 2 default templates that come with MB are pretty easy to customize if you've got some php experience, the templating system isn't brain surgery, I took a couple of weeks to get thru all the code, and I can do a pretty good job of crafting what I want from the 2 default templates.

If you have something specific that your looking for there are a couple folks here on gfy that do MB templates that I'm sure can customize whatever it is that you need, just get with one of them and get a quote so you know what your looking at as you step up to MechBunny :2 cents:

Good luck :thumbsup

Whoever you are, you are top notch! (so they say in the industry lol)

Thanks for the reply. I haven't seen you around much or I haven't had my eyes open for your user name but thank you for taking the time to write back to me.

My biggest fear - the design of the site / new perma links impact my SEO in google.

Another fear is that this will take a while or get messy. But they seem to know what they're doing. The price of them migrating my sites and for the license is peanuts if it can do exactly what i need it to.

I need to write titles, descriptions, tags, etc with ease and in bulk so you think this is the solution for that?

Grab me on Skype and I'll give you a MB login. You can look around and see what it's capable of. Everything you are asking should be no issue at all.

I would suggest you spend some time on the demo that they have setup, you can run thru the front end to see it's functions, and then spend time with the admin area and go thru all the admin functions, it's pretty easy I think, but you might have a different idea of what easy is than I do :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Sorry to say, but every time I've ever made big changes to my sites I always seen a drop in traffic, but I've also been very fortunate and it always has come back up in a few weeks :)

Just be very diligent about getting the 301's in place, and make sure that your sitemap is the way you want it, and you should see a pretty quick recovery. I normally have a shell into my server and I watch the error logs for any 404's so I can fix them on the fly. All the big SE will re-hit a page that it finds an error on in a day or two, so if you fix the 404's as you go, there shouldn't be any issues!

Plan for double the time you think it's going to take, first time out of the box I spent a couple of weeks going thru all the options and getting my feet wet with MB, the last one I setup took like an hour to get it all setup plus the template changes I wanted to make.

Good luck :thumbsup

Any time you are migrating scripts you aren't just migrating scripts. Even if you maintain urls you are changing entire markup of your site, often metatags etc as well. It is not unheard of for traffic to change - but it can either go up or it can go down. Usually SE traffic goes down for a bit and back up after a few weeks to approximately what it was.
