Have I Been Pwned?

I remember this word from my IRC days. I’m wondering how many people got this and fell for it. All links for #2 go to the 1Password site. I didn’t click so didn’t see a referral code . I’m curious about the $$$$$ they make from one spam.

They used an email used only for medical appointments and such. So one of my doctors, hospitals or medical networks was hacked .

These people are wasting incredible talent. Hackers aren’t stupid or clueless; they have amazing skills and patience. It’s not right but admiration and respect plus they didn’t get financial information. Selling an email list to hackers who then sell you password protection software is brilliant!

You've been pwned!
You signed up for notifications when your account was pwned in a data breach and unfortunately, it's happened. Here's what's known about the breach:

Email found:

Breach:
Apollo
Date of breach:
23 Jul 2018
Number of accounts:
125,929,660
Compromised data:
Email addresses, Employers, Geographic locations, Job titles, Names, Phone numbers, Salutations, Social media profiles
Description:
In July 2018, the sales engagement startup Apollo left a database containing billions of data points publicly exposed without a password. The data was discovered by security researcher Vinny Troia who subsequently sent a subset of the data containing 126 million unique email addresses to Have I Been Pwned. The data left exposed by Apollo was used in their "revenue acceleration platform" and included personal information such as names and email addresses as well as professional information including places of employment, the roles people hold and where they're located. Apollo stressed that the exposed data did not include sensitive information such as passwords, social security numbers or financial data.

2 Steps to Better Password Security
Monitoring Have I Been Pwned for data breaches is a great start, now try these next 2 steps to protect all your accounts:

Step 1: Protect yourself with strong, unique passwords for each website with the 1Password password manager

Step 2: Enable 2 factor authentication and store the codes inside your 1Password account

You can also run a search for breaches of your email address again at any time to get a complete list of sites where your account has been compromised.

Check my email address again {link to haveibeenpwned.com/1password}

Why are you only hearing about this now? Whilst the breach occurred in July, sometimes there can be a lengthy lead time of months or even years before the data is disclosed publicly. Have I Been Pwned will always attempt to alert you ASAP, it's just a question of how readily available the data is.
Please note that it is not possible to retrieve the passwords themselves from HIBP. If you don't want to receive any future breach notifications, just click here to unsubscribe.

the best crew I ever heard of had USB sticks printed with a detergent logo...they would dress up in white coats that had printed logos of the distributor, they were really pro about this, and entered supermarkets and convinced the employees that they were distributing free USB sticks with every detergent above a certain size...they would then enter the shop and tape the branded USB sticks, with branded tape to the detergents..

it was brilliant...the USB stick were full of malware but they did it in several countries with several brands...
