Recommend a good home office printer

Hey

I'm using an HP office all in one printer today, with scanner, fax and copy features. Mainly using it for home office to print documents without color.

I think we had similar discussions in the past of how printer companies are scamming customers.

Every time my printer signals that one of the color inks are depleted I'm prohibited by the printer software to continue with black ink only. Have this ever happened to any of you?

I need a new one eventually and I'm fed up with how HP printers forces customer to buy color ink even though black ink is full and that's all you need for the print job ahead.

I'm thinking of getting a reliable laser printer with a good scanner, but I'm not sure. No need for fax though and I'm glad most companies I deal with don't request documents sent with fax anymore.

Suggestions and thoughts?

After years of HP printers, I finally decided to jump ship. I opted for a Brother MFC-J4610DW and it's a decision I don't regret. The unit is rock solid and does the job without any complaints. There'll be newer models out now, obviously.

I'm lazy to check what model is that one but I was also recommended Brother printer.
However, my nearest computer shop didn't have it so I went with HP yet again, which isn't too bad since I print like 20 pages in a month.

But yeah, apparently - brother is the way to go, brother :thumbsup

It seems a bunch of us have lost faith in HP, rightfully so, damn crooks. I will check online what sort of printers brother offers these days. I'll be back to update thread and ask some more if needed.

PS: I'm not an expert in HP printers but I managed to bypass the color ink checkup and still print with black thanks to a hack by modifying some connection plates inside the printer. But it's not optimal and who really wants to hack a printer to able to use it freely lol. Yes I took the liberty and no I don't feel ashamed by doing so.

they work great and cheap.

OK so its a little dated but no real setup was need and it played nice with ALL my devices right out of the box...

Nothing special but it works good for my needs... Scanner and copier built in too of course. Never given me a days issue and cheap as shit tbf...

A Nice purchase.
