I think Jean Gray transformed into her, she didn't really die. There was something with wings in the water at the end of the movie

Rictor 05-03-2003 02:53 PM

Third movie is gonna kick ass too.

I'm gonna go see it on Monday...no crowds.

P.S. - Ultimate X-Men #1 is one of the free comic books available in comic book stores today. FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! Whoo hoo!

You could see the bird effect in her eyes too.
That'll be cool, Dark Phoenix was an awesome storyline.

This is exactly why I don't click on threads with movie titles in them unless I've seen the movie.

Strife 05-03-2003 03:23 PM

Hope they include Lady deathstrike in X3!

I saw it last night. I just think it's inconsiderate to speak about such things when the thread could have just been talking about the trailer, the effects etc.

I'm sure there were more than a few here (who hopefully will learn as I did) that did click on the thread only to have a key element in the movie ruined for them.

If you notice the person who started the thread and most others that followed failed to even mention key elements in the movie, only offering up their thoughts on how good it was.

Anyway...like I said...it's exactly why I don't click on a thread with the movie title unless I've seen it.

if the thread was about the trailer, i would have said so. it's about the movie and you should expect people talking about what happens in the movie. i don't see why i should not have said what i said.

Fletch XXX 05-03-2003 04:37 PM

So many X Men fans now that they made it a movie.

buahahah

Where were you guys back here?

<img src=http://www.comicgems.com/wolverine1.jpg border="1">

I had a shit load of old Xmen comics, I started getting them back in the mid 80's. When I moved out I left them in boxes in my mothers attic and later they were all thrown away.
:(
They'd have been worth thousands of dollars by now.

Rictor 05-03-2003 04:48 PM

I've got one of these. Do you think it's worth anything? ;)

http://www.ezacash.com/hulk181.jpg

By the way, the last batch of books I sent in to CGC, they really fucked me on the grades. I had some nice key books that should have been 8.0 or better and the whole batch came back at 4.0-4.5. Usually CGC gives my books better grades than I expect. I must have gotten a rookie grader or something. Worst $200 I ever spent.

The thread only says X-2, could mean a lot of shit...I stated what I stated and stand by it..."This is exactly why I don't click on threads with movie titles in them unless I've seen the movie."

Because regardless of what the title of the thread says...there's always someone in it that's a spoiler.

Fletch XXX 05-03-2003 04:50 PM

Anything with Wolverine is worth something now.

Even the lame shit like Wolverine VS Spiderman

hahaha

Iv'e been a Wolverine fan since I was a kid, I used to just listen to danzig and read Wolverine stories, that's why I grew my sideburns.

Gotta sport the low burns.

Naaa...that crap from the 80s isn't worth anything...$3-4 a book if they are mint. I buy them for 50 cents each all the time to resell in my store. That Wolverine #1 posted above we sell for Wizard value ($50-55). We pay $25 for them or store credit. Wolverine was actually more popular in the 80s than he is now. His book used to sell around 500,000 copies a month compared to 50,000 a month these days. They are going to start it back over at #1 in a couple months.

Rictor 05-03-2003 04:54 PM

By the way, for those that don't know, Hulk #181 is the first appearance of Wolverine. It's a good book to own.

Fletch XXX 05-03-2003 04:55 PM

Rictor: I have to remember you own a comic store, I forget that.

;)

I started collecting comics, mad magazines etc when I was just a kid...going on 37 now. My father, brother and I actually owned well over 30,000 comic books and infiltrated the sports card shows because there weren't really any comic book shows going on in the D/FW area back then...things started to pick up around 1985-86.

We sold everything off, except for our prized collections, and when we moved to LA in 1987 we were in comic book heaven. The monthly show at the Shrine Auditorium there was fan-fucking-tastic...I moved onto collecting movie memorabilia and stuck with sports cards, while my brother collected mainly cards and comics, and my dad sports cards.

Anyway...I don't have any of it anymore, but that's another story.

That's too bad because they were great back then. Especially with John Romita and Marc Silvestri was drawing them.
Thats when Rogue first appeared, professor could walk, Rachel appeared and I had all the XFactor, Xcaliber and New Mutants stuff too. Tons of 80's Justice League stuff too. And Secret Wars.

My favorite comics back then were XMen and Justice League, and some Spiderman and Avengers but I didnt like much else.

I haven't read comics in over 10 years but I saw a rack at the store and looked at some and they're all fucked now. The art is weird, the colors and the paper are weird. They suck now.

Fletch XXX 05-03-2003 04:59 PM

#181

'Incredible Hulk #181- Wolverine jumps on Hulk. He then jumps off Hulk and kicks Wendigo. Hulk decides that "little man is Hulk's friend" since he fights Hulk's enemies. Wolverine doesn't get why Hulk thinks they're buddies, but he uses Hulk. Wolvie distracts Wendigo and Hulk picks him up and throws him into some trees. Wolverine then brings the full force of his claws down on the Wendigo. With Wendigo down Wolverine attacks Hulk. Marie and George take Wendigo and do his half of the transfer. Hulk and Wolverine battle until Marie performs a spell of subjugation. Wolvie and Hulk pass out, and Hulk transforms back into Banner. George refuses to help Marie anymore and leaves. Marie tries to move Banner but awakens him and retriggers the change. Hulk doesn't like being tricked. Wolverine continues his battle with Hulk while Marie goes back to the cave. When Marie screams Wolverine looks over and hulk knocks him out with a punch. That?s right folks a glancing blow knocks Wolverine unconscious.

WINNER: Hulk, SCORE: Hulk 1, Wolverine 0'

In case you wanted to know how the fight went.

No man, it's fucking great. Those are good books and they're cheap. What sucks is there are a lot of good books out there that have never been reprinted that cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. I'd be happy if every comic book out there was 50 cents. I'm a reader first, collector second.

titmowse 05-04-2003 01:04 AM

it was a very enjoyable movie. a good sequel to the first and i'm not even a fan.

i'm waiting for that fantastic four flick. i dig the thing :)

We all have reasons to kill our parents. We all need to remember that it's likely WE will be parents, too, someday.

Nydahl 05-04-2003 03:24 AM

poor story , but what would you expect - its a comics.
I liked teleporter - great visual ef.
