How do you install Wordpress? How long does it take?

How do you install Wordpress?

Do you upload it to your server and unzip it? Do you use a one click install inside your hosting control panel? How do you do it?

How long does it take you to install a new copy of Wordpress from the creation of your site, to creating a database and then having a fresh copy of Wordpress ready to use?

Using Softaculous and DirectAdmin, setting up a new domain with WordPress and Let's Encrypt SSL certificate should take only minutes.

Here is a guide anyone can use with those modules in place: https://support.vacares.com/customer...ticles/2942996

Thanks Sly, that's one method of doing it that some people use. Others might use other methods and I'm interested in understanding how various people approach it. :thumbsup

Simple old school method :

- Use phpmyadmin to create database

- Unzip Wordpress on desktop

- FTP Upload unziped contents to root

- Go to https://yourdomain.com and enter database and website details

Done

:)

Upload Wordpress, set up the config file, should take two minutes.

I personally just drop the unzipped files on the server, create a database, edit the config file and install. Less than 5 minutes if the server and domain already exists and is set up.

I don't use any of that softalicious, directadmin, phpmyadmin, etc stuff (anymore).

For me tho, before WordPress is ready to use I gotta have JetPack, VaultPress and muthfuckin UpDraftPlus. So maybe 20-30 minutes for a fresh copy of WordPress really ready to use.

wget https://wordpress.org/latest.zip
unzip
edit config file

access domain.com

usually take 3-4 minutes.,

but i dont have wordpress farms., so i dont mind. i mean, its just one time installation.

Whichever way you decide to install it, be sure to read this cautionary tale from 2015.

I still have not fully recovered :(

Stay safe guys.
