how can big guys like google and cloudflare able to get fancy ipv4 addresses ?

e.g. 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

where can i get one ?

They probably acquired such large IP ranges, at great cost and with much paperwork, that they had their pick of the cutesy ones.

Try pinging 1.1.1.1 - it's a valid IP...

Several years back I was impressed to see one of the domain crawling sites using 66.249.x.x as its IP. Most people allow this because Google (and Googlebot) occupy a large chunk of that range, but there are several IPs which are not allocated to Google. Wonder how much they paid to get a block right near Google.

Not only is it valid IP but it's the most secure and usually fastest DNS resolver on the planet - run by Cloudflare, better than 8.8.8.8
