Years ago when i spent a few weeks in Venezuela it was a scary corrupt place. Looks like nothings changed ?

I was there year 2005 with Chavez, it was a lovely place

I went there a few times, around 1990 , so before Chavez .

Great for tourists , but the people were really poor , no electricity or running water .

The elite was well off : attended a New Year party that I will never forget as oppulence was omnipresent ... for the rich.

Maduro is no Chavez and he should accept elections monitored by legit organisation , not the super powers :2 cents:

That was about the same time i was there, hotels were opulent but the staff rude and very untrustworthy. Travel agents advised everyone not to place their valuables in the hotel safe as lots of $$$ was stolen around that time. I stayed mainly on the beach but as you say the towns are bad, almost as bad places in India for poverty and disease. Not a place i ever want to go back to

how ever it turns out things will get worse for venezuelans....the west will never allow them to be under a non-puppet government and the puppet government is there for the sole purpose of robbing them blind (doing a "west")...if they stay under the current leader the west will make sure he has to corrupt people around him because of western pressure and they will try to make it look like the leader is responsible for the poverty even though the west is doing everything possible to fuck over venezuela...

And what if the military helps Maduro and start shooting?
Than the USA comes to help, or Russia and China?
And what will the military do, wait for trial if their side loose or go in the hills and start guerrilla war like Cambodia had/has?
If the countries get split by a war, it will take centuries when the own people start killing neighbours.. And it can 'end' like Syria.
Or somebody believes Maduro will just go and Russia will accept the billions of loses cause they invested that money in Venezuela?

Maduro is a shit president. But i haven't seen many countries that got better off after a cival war. And the plan with Guaido is doomed to fail.
pay of Russia, give some billions to Maduro and maybe he leaves. But still no good alternative president who get the support of the whole country.
