Google Is Always Listening...

Pretty interesting live test this guy did. Seems to be legit IMO.

Based on personal experience I have had the same thing occur on multiple occasions. Had someone in the office recommend a product to me and started seeing ads for it online about an hour later.

Google doesn't just listen to words around constantly, they index the sounds you make as well.

Last year I was posting on GFY sitting on my hotel toilet with rancid explosive diarrhea due to a bad clam I had at dinner. Of course I wasn't posting or talking to anybody about this as it was happening but literally as I'm sitting there shitting, after I left GFY to read an article on Drudge Report, I got 2 ads for diarrhea medicine on Drudge Report, one for Kaopectate and another for Imodium A-D.

I wouldn't be surprised if Google hears people coughing a lot that they'll put up ads for cough medicines or list of diseases with symptoms of coughing :2 cents:

We did the same test 2 years ago with wedding dresses.
It is realy true!

And i am sure they are watching and recording your build in cams to.
Every time if i am leaving the room, they start to show ads on youtube.

Best regards

It's bullshit. I saw this last year and did my own tests, nothing.

Unlikely anyone is recording your audio directly. They have very small speech to text applets so they only record the text if at all. (stores much smaller)

I have never seen that happen to me because I quit leaving attached cam/mic 15 years ago when this started happening a bit to much from hacks and factory software(s).

2 things... it is in your user agreement now.
And you do have a browser option to revoke permissions to access mic / cam for individual sites.

Not that I trust any of that.

The best defense has been to deny the capability.

Most of this is why I will never use a Android for anything but utility and even that is limited.
A hack from/on one app can spread throughout the sandbox even though they say it can't happen.

Apple at least gives you the ability to limit this per app but it is a pain to maintain complete security. Even the weather channel was found selling your location through GPS access. Of course, you can shut that off by the app and locking up GPS.
but so many stories like this... it will never end until you demand it.

The problem is, you will not know what/how the data may be used for in the future. Or who it may be sold to or hacked to.

Remember, you are only secure as the weakest single point.
