Hearing Loss Sympathy
 

I now have sympathy for people who lose hearing. Two weeks ago I went for my hearing test but needed wax removal. Two weeks of drops, twice daily, ended last night. Two weeks of a blocked ear and no sound. Four weeks until the appointment to remove wax and do test.

I have sincere sympathy for anyone with hearing loss. One blocked ear and my world has changed. My father had hearing aids and always had trouble with them. Five grand for the first pair and he still couldn’t hear well. Mom used to say that he couldn’t hear her asking him for help but drop a penny on the carpeting and he’d hear it fifty feet away!

I never had sympathy for him but I’d never experienced anything remotely close to this. I’m glad I always cleaned my ears though I used cotton swabs which is very bad. Q-tips needs to stop promoting the product as soft and begin to address the issue of sticking it in your ear. It pushes wax further in and can cause damage.

They gave me drops for the future and the drops loosen the wax and you suction it out.

Seriously, how many here think about their ears and wax? I just never thought about it.

What’s next to go? Jeez, I’m scared of getting old.

everybody knows you put it in further with q tips.. I went to a concert with such loud noise i thought i lost hearing in 1 ear, also my balance was bad. Than i went to the doctor and he said he must clean my ears (not oiling them for weeks first). I think the volume make the ear wax loose. He put in the water and a piece of shit came out, unbelievable. It wasn't shit but it had the colour and size of a small turd. I said to my mother i thought she become deaf cause i noticed she couldn't hear me well. Also had to clean out her ears.

I am still wondering if a new turd is growing in my ears and when i should check it again. Currently sober must like it, more relieving than just take a shit.

My father in law has hearing loss, and refuses to wearing hearing aids. He's in his mid 70s. He has tv with the surround sounds and cracks it up loud and then... watches TV all night.

It's impossible to sleep in that house.

Yep know all about it. Hard living with people who are constantly speaking so loud or screaming because of it. The hearing aids devices technology has come along way in the last 5 years.

We all think we’re going to go deaf when we get old. You don’t think about it much and then you’re not hearing much.

People are rude and yell loudly and I tell them not to yell. Just talk a little louder or talk on my good side. Bitch tonight yelled and I told her that she didn’t have to yell for the neighbors to hear. She said something quietly and then asked if I heard her. I said no but it was probably her usual rudeness so I didn’t miss much. She yelled “good night Pam” and left talking quietly.

The wax from my ears wasn’t brown like shit but more a light brown color. I’ll see in three plus weeks how it looks. At least there is no smell from the wax. Well, I didn’t smell it but I think I’d have smelled it when it came out if it was bad.

Smelly ears isn’t a subject that I’ve ever heard.

Usually with hearing loss it means part of the ear is damaged or dead, and no amount of amplification from a hearing aid will recover that. Aids boost the hearing you have.

I have hearing loss and if I'm in a one on one situation hearing aids work great, but put m in a public place with many people then their effectiveness will depend on many things, could be the floor or the height of the roof... there's many factors to consider.

All those self cleaning products are best AVOIDED! If you want your ears cleaned go to the doctor and have them blasted, I get that done twice a year, wearing aids is like a foreign object in your ears and they need cleaned more often.

It’s tough. My mom is hard of hearing. My brother too. I have tinnitus in both ears. It’s a cluster fuck because we all hate repeating ourselves. It makes family time interesting
