Anyone got a playstation classic?

& if so, are you using autobleem or bleemsync ?

CurrentlySober 08-22-2019 11:54 AM

Well I'll answer my own question - Im gonna be using both. And Retroboot as well...

Autobleem for the interface and bleemsync for the OTG facility...

Colmike9 08-22-2019 12:02 PM

BleemSync is the easiest and you don't have to modify any console files, but still be careful if you do it since if you edit/do the wrong thing, it can be irreversible.

You'll also need a USB keyboard to get into the debug menu (Press ESC on load to get in that menu) but the ones that are compatible seem to be random.

I think its the other way around isn't it? AutoBleem is the plug 'n play solution, but BleemSync is the one that modifies the files? Anyhoo, I need it get OTG to be able to go in round the back and free up the front USB for 2 player action :)

Not too worried about fucking it up tbh, cause its so fucking cheap. On par with a raspberry pie, but you get two real playstation controllers with it, that you couldn't order separately for less money !

Loads of old keyboards with different connectors knocking around after all my pie builds and arcade machine style fuckarys! :thumbsup

I have the SNES Classic. I wish Nintendo would make all of those old games available for download to the Switch like they did with Wii.

RyuLion 08-25-2019 12:35 PM

I've had to time to play anymore..

They really need to put Chrono Trigger in the Nintendo Store, but probably has issues with Squaresoft. Same with some games like Goldeneye/Perfect Dark and Rare..

Which is also probably why you can add new games pretty easily on Classic consoles and at least on the NES Classic, there's a message from "Hanifuda" telling you to not break everything.. :upsidedow

CurrentlySober 08-25-2019 12:45 PM

Thing is, you get one of these bad boys for next to nothing, an OTG adaptor for like Ł3 and a usb stick, and within a few minutes you've got pretty much EVERY game ever released on the carousel instead of just 20, plus you've also got all the nintendo, super nintendo, sega genesis, game boy, game gear dreamcast, mame (with about 300 Arcade games) all installed and configured for you !

You really can't go wrong for the price especially with two playstation controllers included, and all the cables you need ! You can't even buy a raspberry pie for retropie with 29.99 !

I bought Donkey Kong Country for my brother when he had the Wii. Now I have a Switch and want to put it on there lol.

I had some games on the regular Wii that I wanted on my WiiU when I upgraded and I was able to re-buy those games on the WiiU for a dollar or two instead of full price. I'm not sure if it works that way with a Switch or not, though, I'm slow at upgrading these days lol.

Colmike9 08-25-2019 12:52 PM

Want a harder but awesome video game project?

Take a N64 (Not the Pokémon Snap version) and open it up. On the center front chip there will be pins 112 and 116. Take a tiny soldering iron and take each of those two pins off of the board and solder those to any 3.3v point on the board. Then cut the wire and solder it to a switch, with the other end going to ground for each wire. Then, one of the pins is 1.5x and one is 2x, so you can go from 1x, 1.5x, 2x or 3x clock speed. It makes some games' fps smoother and once in a while you'll see better draw distance. Mine still works. :upsidedow

Nope!

There is a store but it doesn't have much for those old games. Though I did just buy Doom for $5.

I'm working on a project that will make it easier for quadraplegics to play video games on the Switch.

:/ Yeah, there are a lot of older games that would sell well if they put them on there..

Nice! You'll have some competition from Microsoft's Adaptive Controller ;)

Nah I use this QuadStick

Technology isn't the issue. HOW to use the available technology is the issue, and that's what I'm working on.

CurrentlySober 08-25-2019 02:32 PM

And for absolutely no real reason whatsoever, here's a really badly acted, 'Gay Ass' 20 min film set in an amusement arcade ! :upsidedow

CurrentlySober 08-29-2019 09:00 AM

Gotta say Im loving this - Its the toy that just keeps giving!!!

Got an 8BitDo arriving tomorrow... That enables me to use a BT PS4 controller and take advantage of the duel analog controllers as well as enjoying 'rumbles' :)

Sly 08-29-2019 09:10 AM

Are you basically saying that you have "hacked" the PlayStation Classic so that it can play any ROM? I have the SNES Classic and I haven't noticed anything that would make that possible so am a bit confused, but then again I don't fully know how the PlayStation Classic works.

Yeah, pretty much. Not 'any' rom... I mean it cant play a gamecube game or nintendo wii stuff, but pretty much every playstation 1 game, PSP stuff gameboy games, game gear, sega master system, sega genesis, nintendo classic, super nintendo etc etc... Basically anything before the nintendo 64... MAME is on it so any arcade rom... It even has a few dreamcast games that run OK...

Couple of pics I've just taken of the screen.
(In the first pic the MAME option at the top is covered by a 'Rick and Morty sticker :) )

As you see, systems on the left, relevant games on the right :)

Adding ROMs to the SNES Classic is pretty easy now, and it can support Retroarch if you want to play other older games like Genesis.

No kidding? I might take a look. Very cool. Now if only I could do that for the Switch...

Yep, same as the NES Classic. The only thing, though, is that there is only enough room to add about twice as many games, but still great for a few classics that aren't included. :)

I'm not sure about the Switch, but Dolphin is a great emulator for Gamecube/Wii games on a PC. Just random

Colmike9 08-29-2019 09:57 AM

btw, best place to get older ROMs with basically no ads or anything else is vimm.net

There are a bunch is NES games available for the Switch. It’s part of their paid online service.

The daring can even jailbreak and run emulators.

I have Nintendo Online. I think it's a good deal. A lot of people complain about it but $20 for a bunch of old cool games and online access? Worth it.

I was playing the original Zelda the other night.

EmulationStation has just been ported over along with full network support!

What a great time to be alive :thumbsup

What's the performance like?

Dunno about emulationstation, cause I haven't installed it yet, but in general its very good. The console hardware of the PS is slightly more powerful that the pie 3B+ (as he states tat the end of the video) and everything I've tried to play so far has been flawless, despite some nintendo titles, but I may just need to do a bit of tweaking :)

Its just so nice to have a tiny console, thats silent, does not overheat and just does everything that it does ! For virtually nothing !

CaptainHowdy 09-04-2019 11:38 AM

you guys are far too patient... i play chronotrigger all the time but just use an emulator. easier that way.

if its an ethics thing i bought all this stuff at some point so i am good with it.. heh just takes up less space.

Me too, but the problem that I have with playing Chrono Trigger and using an emulator is that I play about halfway through the game then I have to reinstall my OS for some reason without being able to back it up, or the game freezes sometimes (The 'cut scene' with the cliff scrolling up specifically), or I put it on something that I rarely play like an original Xbox, and I have to play the entire thing over again. I need something "official" to play it the right way all the way through and I don't want to spend $300 on the cart. :upsidedow
(I used to own it, but back in the day my brother traded that AND Mario RPG for fucking Pokémon Snap! I'm still mad at him for that lol)

CurrentlySober 09-05-2019 11:36 AM

I've Just added virtually every single Nintendo DS game released into the mix... :thumbsup
