AI shopping to take over the human jobs...

so it seems that in Japan, AI shops are becoming more common and with amazon ai shopping in the US and a town area in London, UK, less jobs will be needed, not just shopping assistants, but the clerical & management work, the security & probably going further down the line, less need for the common beat bobby walking the streets as cameras and technology does all the work...

On one video i viewed, the girl purposely dropped a drink into her bag, when paying, it was on the invoice. I take it too many of these noticed and the authorities would be notified.

There wont be less jobs - only less jobs for people with no skills.... just like porn webmasters and Paul M.

Amazon Web Services have more then 10.000 open postitions worldwide, and the whole of Amazon have +32.000

if this takes off, the 80k of cameras in stores watch each customer shopping, no thefts and no tills, payment and security, no shop assistants at all superstores or any shops, any shops, there´s millions of people that "theoretically" could be without of a job :2 cents:

Don't we already have this? I was at Home Depot the other day and they had one cashier open and four "automatic" booths where you scan everything in yourself. Instead of having three or four cashiers on duty, they have one. Target has this too - my local Target has eight - and Wal Mart does too.

This will be the new trend in everything. Generally speaking I don't shop in stores any more; I shop online. Usually at Amazon, sometimes Ebay. Amazon has everthing - One time I needed to replace the handle on my ten year old dryer and when I searched for the part number it was on Amazon.

We've been here before. They said the same thing about computers... They told us the work place will be cut by 80% because computers will cause productivity to rise. Well, that happened. But now we need IT people to run the computers, people to build the computers, people to build the software, people to sell it all to us.

If AI is better than humans, then use it, I guess. Only smarter humans get jobs. Deal with it.

no, not self serve, you´re missing the point...

this is full AI, it tells you how much you have bought, even if you´ve hidden some in a coat, or placed them in your bags. It´s not self serve, it´s full on, everything is watched & many cameras in a shop do this with an ai system calculating everything all the time.

The rich will be richer and poor will be poorer as less jobs will be less shoppers.

half of all humans are low skill...for now, taking away low skilled jobs in the name of profit is seen as "progress" and everybody should just become a coder or system engineer...the weak are being targeted and so is their right to remain low skilled...there is nothing wrong with being low skilled...a value of a human being is not measured in how much financial units he can bring to a shareholder...

the brightest minds in the world are working on eliminating jobs in the name of profit...they will succeed...for a short time, they will bring tremendous value to shareholders...

We already have this. No lines, no small talk. Just scan, pay and go.

The problem comes with less people getting a decent wage packet it means less is taken in taxes and more the government pays out in welfare. Leading to higher taxes or higher debts.

Shopping online needs less workers, warehouses paying lower taxes than retail stores, leading to less is taken in taxes and more the government pays out in welfare. Leading to higher taxes or higher debts.

And you swallowed the Cool Aid fed to us by big corporations who just get bigger.

Bullshit.

Computers are built in the 3rd World. The other jobs require highly educated people so unless we sink a lot more into teaching, which is expensive, we ship those jobs over seas or import workers to do the jobs.

The only thing that's saved the West's economy is Banking and Services, with higher debt.No one will help us once the Chinese take over Banking and Services and won't buy government bonds.

Technology does all the work interesting. Time for someone to go mad with feelings of being superior to other beings.
