Chinese legislative body The National People’s Congress Standing Committee approved a permanent nationwide ban on the consumption and illegal trade of wild animals—an industry that is estimated to be worth $74 billion.

whole thing is bizarre.. it's illegal to eat a 'wild animal' without some sort of approval?

dear fucking lord.

CaptainHowdy 03-25-2020 04:37 AM

They will find a way around the ban . . .

escorpio 03-25-2020 05:46 AM

Should work. That's how we solved the drug problem here in the US.

Paul&John 03-25-2020 07:04 AM

Plenty of it was happening illegally even before, so..

xholly 03-25-2020 08:30 AM

Are they still allowed to eat human embryos?

lovebitch 03-25-2020 08:42 AM

I saw the video, a Chinese man boiling a live dog and pealing his skin, a guy eating mouse alive. If you ask me, this is karma and they deserve more.

I saw a man cut the head off a live pig with a chainsaw.

There are sick fuckers everywhere doesn't stop me eating pork though.

Anyone who's hunted or had livestock know that you don't want to stress out an animal before you kill it because it makes the meat very bitter.

I'm afraid the whole the Chinese torture dogs before they kill them its just animal rights extremist bullshit. I'm no fan of the Chinese state but you do sound like a Hindu talking about how westerners treat cattle.

Speigelau 03-25-2020 12:10 PM

This was announced a month ago, now lets see if they actually enforce it because I guarantee the illegal trade will still go on in their black market.

or they are farm animals ?

NatalieK 03-25-2020 03:09 PM

goat is wildlife, same with many animals though...

while i´m against the chinese, especially the dogs and cats, the way they eat them. When we feel like we do about these, it´s must be more so for vegans, rabbits, chickens and cows, lovely lambs bouncing in a field...

maybe it is time the whole world goes veggie??!?

My tea needs a special kind of mountain goat testicle to be most effective so yes some goats are 'wild".

Off topic but I've been wondering: If the Chinese ban on more than 1 child per couple is being followed shouldn't their population be going DOWN after so many years? Yet it seems to be growing. Just wondering.

pimpmaster9000 03-25-2020 11:15 PM

if china suffered sufficient damage from this and wants to stop it they will...there are no rights in china and they can disappear anybody they wish...if they want to ban it, they will...

maximoi 03-25-2020 11:41 PM

Need a substantial punishment to have any affect. A lame ban is not going to achieve anything.

Manfap 03-26-2020 01:50 AM

They did try before after SARS, but it went underground, so they allowed it again.

Is the US/Europe going to ban eating wild boar?

Virus could just as easily come from that.

Getting wild game in Spain is quite difficult, you can only buy it frozen for a few places.

Paul Markham 03-26-2020 02:01 AM

Will it also be banned in the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, etc?

You got that wrong. It is NOT Chinese bats alone, but the ocelot from Africa or turtle from Indonesia being kept on top of each other in cages and slaughtered on situ. The presumption is that bats may have gotten it from some other wildlife which naturally would not ever be close to each other to transmit the infection.

So, in Europe or US if you sold live boars, packed in cages next to a African monkeys and South American ant eaters. Slaughter and sold them on situ then you would have a point. :2 cents:
