Need unbiased opinion on site sale

I was offered a tube site for 12k USD, seen traffic stats and revenue stats, I agreed on the deal, it's ~30-35k users daily with much Indian traffic

After that, the seller tells me that he found that ~10-20% of all traffic (can't remember the %) comes from his 4-5 referral domains and if I want these too, they are 4k extra. These are basically sites that link to random tube videos and that's it, no other value.

In my opinion, the 12k site is now no longer a 12k site because it will lose revenue and traffic the second he sells it to me and switches links. Anyway, I agreed and it's now a 16k sale for same traffic / revenue site "network".

After buying 4k sites first, I find that there are many more "referral" sites / domains / links and now seller wants me to pay like 4-5k extra, again, a 12k site with 35k users now becomes 20k site with identical users / revenue stats. It feels like a trap where you're forced to spend much more to get the stats that you've paid for originally

Now I found that one of the domains he sold already on GFY, and traffic is slowly decreasing (could be other reasons but links are gone) and he is selling others too.

Am I an asshole here for wanting to cancel the deal or get a full network for 16k? For me, this is only fair. I agreed on 12k for the site with X traffic and X profit, if it can't generate this number with lost links, traffic, domains, then this is not a 12k site. feels like bait and switch

ladida 06-10-2020 04:46 AM

I dont get the question. You are asking others if its ok not to spend your cash on something you already feel its not worth your cash??? You always make decisions like this or what?
It's really straightforward. You signed a contract or not? No contract, no obligation to anything. Spend money on whatever you want rofl. Or, well, don't...

CumBro 06-10-2020 04:48 AM

I am asking if the seller is being dishonest here in your opinion for increasing the price this way, no contract

But I am not crying about money spent, I am asking if this sounds like a fair deal and if you'd personally follow up with the sale considering this scenario

SpicyM 06-10-2020 05:07 AM

Is that a niche tube? Is the domain nice and short?

my general advice is to know the sources of traffic before a deal is made...

You should have done your due diligence when buying the site and reviewed where traffic is coming from. When buying a site, past or current performance is not a guarentee of future performance.

The guy isn't asking for sympathy on a deal gone wrong.

To OP, I think it is extremely dishonest of anyone selling a site not to let the buyer know that he is feeding this site traffic from dozens of other domains that he owns, and that he might sell or otherwise stop the flow of traffic to the site you're purchasing.

I was just about to say. Agreed. Those sources should have been made known to you before the deal.

Yes, this. Its a very sly way of doing business, however as others have said, you really should have done your due diligence before purchase...

The Porn Nerd 06-10-2020 07:33 AM

So if the deal is unfair as you fear (and it is, the seller should not be jacking you for more money halfway through) what will you do now? I highly doubt the seller would return 16K or however much you gave him so what now?

Advice: tho it will take time just repeat the feeder domains/traffic he was setting up on your own. Or, find a new buyer. :)

sarettah 06-10-2020 07:47 AM

caveat emptor.

I literally did a cntl F "caveat emptor" before I posted it. :1orglaugh

Yeah OP, that sucks. I feel like an honest seller should have included that in the sale or at the very least made you aware during the initial phase. I know I would have :2 cents:

Thank you for reading. I too feel this is not honest.

I didn't pay 16k yet, just 4k for first domains

Markul 06-10-2020 11:16 PM

I would cut my losses and back out.

xxx6live 06-11-2020 12:27 AM

Yes, don't spend any more.
And Indian traffic? Never earned a single dime on them, and I have lots.

Brit in Cambodia 06-11-2020 01:40 AM

cut your loses if its only $4k you've spent and write it off as a lesson learned.

Klen 06-11-2020 01:44 AM

Should of GTFO the moment when he said how he found those extra domains.

Speigelau 06-11-2020 02:09 AM

Cum on bro, as soon as he told you it was Indian traffic, gtfo.

It's not all Indian, just like 30, 40-50% maybe, prob typical for an adult site, it's still making some $ :) it's not a shit site

40%-50% is *NOT* typical...

NatalieK 06-12-2020 06:09 AM

main point, he changed the deal, so you´re not cancelling the deal...

personally, the tube´s now worth nearly 15% less than it was, especially if you need to pay further fees for sites that make up the other traffic :2 cents:

wankawonk 06-12-2020 06:15 AM

you got taken, mate. cut your losses

This. Move on and not much you can do now. You should have done your due diligence before touching it but at least you have learned something.

:thumbsup

droptopmop 06-12-2020 01:28 PM

I think I emailed the same person and got a reply on June 8th, I will exclude name of main site:

Hi,
Exxxxxx tube is sold.
I have for sale Italian and German, very profitable tubes. but expensive. 30k usd price.

Does this sound familiar?

faxxaff 06-13-2020 02:19 AM

Indian traffic is very unproductive. I'd cut my losses and buy a TGP instead.

Biggie Smalls Web Writing 06-13-2020 03:28 AM

definitely shady move from the seller

mce 06-13-2020 06:02 PM

Don't be an idiot, OP.

You can just build a site yourself and not have to worry about the traffic being FAKE or all non-Tier 1

All the info you need is available online to build a hot tube

Buying sites makes sense in MAINSTREAM.

Not so much in adult

honestly I can think of at least one very good reason to buy sites in adult...but it doesn't involve hoping there will be a positive ROI

EddyTheDog 06-13-2020 06:49 PM

My fear would be that there are going to be other little surprises down the track - Walk away would be my advice...

CumBro 06-14-2020 12:31 AM

The deal has been changed and we both agreed on it, I'll get extra domains and all the sites associated with that single tube for extra cost, total is 20k for everything.
