Do you donate money to anything?

Do you donate money to anything?

I will be honest. I never do.

I got some BAT token, and donated to darknet diaries and protonmail.
But that was only a few dollars.

Only anonymously mostly because I'm a private person and feel it's not really altruistic if you wan't to make a spectacle about it. I'm sure most people would love to help if they were in the position to.

Not really a fan of the organized charities as a lot of them are run poorly with overpaid admin staff. I like to see exactly where my money is going and know it actually made a difference

Xx,xxx to a group my friend started for veterans with ptsd to go on a "healing trip"

And xx,xxx to some guys family I went to highschool with who died tragically in a work accident while his wife was pregnant with their first born. I did that through a mutual friend though because I didnt want anyone in our friend circle knowing

Its important to support and help people if you can. Not only does it help people but it makes you feel great too, and theres nothing wrong with that

The problem is when people do it for the wrong reasons like youtubers giving homeless people money randomly and recording it to make a video

Yes, right now I donate and volunteer.

I've volunteer at several local non-profit San Diego events since I've been a teen.

My wife and I are doing donations regularly, and do support local poor families in many different ways.
This is a very important part of our lives, our family life.

I also use KIVA which is a support platform for supporting people who wanna work.

I only ever give money to animal charities.

I guess i like animals more than humans...

duoduoproject.org - end yulin :disgust
skiathos-cats.org - greek cat welfare assoc.
paws.org.ph - philippines animal welfare

few more small ones like this that seem like more hands-on. PETA good intention imo, but seems too much like massive org.

I donate money to a handful of places...

I donated to the American Red Cross. A block from us we had a fire, as as the firefighters were putting out the fire the Red Cross showed up vouchers for a hotel room up the street, toothbrushes, and everything they would need for the next few weeks. I was impressed. I know, they blow through a lot of money.... I have a friend who works for them and the American Red Cross pays for his shiney new Jeep but during a hurricane or earthquake he hops into his Jeep and goes so... I'm fine with it.

I also donated to a lot of local things, lots of youth sport leagues. I would much rather donate $2k to the local youth football league and have it go to a college grant for one of the kids.

Lots to local stuff. Seems all of my childhood friends are dieing. So I've been helping them get buried properly. Pay for their kids schooling.

used too, I'd give random waitresses $100 tip or pick up a families tab at a restaurant, sometimes drop a few hundred in a car window cracked open in a parking lot.

Not lately though

CaptainHowdy 09-04-2020 05:39 PM

I'm usually on the receiving end of the donation . . .

Helix 09-04-2020 07:25 PM

I don't usually donate money but I do donate cannabis oil and flower frequently to people fighting cancer, severe illness's and the terminal folks to make them comfortable.
