Server migration

I consider switching hoster. I would like to ask for some expert opinions. At the moment I have managed dedicated server for $80/month

There are lots of different and cheap hosting options these days.

Maybe cloud hosting with 1 TB space for 10 EUR/month is enough?

Or do you think I still need a virtual or even dedicated server?

My website stats are like that:

- 500-1000 visitors per day

- 600 GB space used

- used bandwidth per month 5 TB

- grows about 10% per year

What do I have to consider? Streaming issues?

Basic server management via panel I could do by my own in the meantime.

Use cloud infra (VPS) until your needs are pushing against the largest VPS they can offer

at that point they'll know who you are and will help you move up--and you'll be making enough money not to care about price!

Talk to these guys -> Mojohost . I moved my stuff there and happy about it..

So you run a paysite and $80/month is too much for you? It's actually a good price for a managed dedicated server (well, I don't know the specs).

I don't think it's a good idea (or even possible) to run a paysite where you stream videos on cheap $10/month hosting.

Probably decent VPS for about $50/month is the mimimum so you won't save much.

every site i've ever hosted or managed has had continuous attacks by hackers. our network had over 2 million DDOS attacks yesterday (and not a single site slowed down)..

i put security at the top of any hosting "needs" list. a tb of space is easy to find. a secure space you can afford is not as easy.

$80 a month for a managed dedicated server is cheap I would suggest sticking with it you won’t save much looking for cheaper.

You certainly did not have "2 million ddos attacks" yesterday, or you are unaware what "ddos" means.

we count an "attack" as an IP attempting to hit the network at a rate of 50 times or more in a 60-second period for 3 or more minutes in a day. there's many different types of DDOS attacks, and they get more creative all the time, but that definition is pretty inclusive to what i see every day. the DDOS report on Saturday says 32k IPs and a total hit/attack count of 2,138,242..

our security system monitors the entire network: each server is scanned individually and then a central server reads all the server reports. bans are active network-wide within 2-3 minutes. the security system has a lot of rules and other scripts - such as network-wide bandwidth and usage reports. it was developed specifically to secure PornCMS sites. we don't host anything else.

overall attacks are lower lately. maybe a lot of the Chinese hackers are on sick leave..

i see them flood the servers at 8am HK time and then drop off around 5pm. i have no love for Chinese hackers. they're not as good at their job as Russian hackers tho.
