So i stole a cat

From my dad's house.

He hasn't been looking after the cat properly since must passed. And i noticed when i went to visit the other week the cat seemed thin, and just not in great shape at all. Lifeless.

Dad drinks. A lot. So i had words with him recently but well......alcoholics can be very selfish people. Doesn't matter how much you help out, or offer to help out, or give advice, it doesn't make a difference. He doesn't listen or give thanks. For anything.

So yesterday i decided to kidnap the cat and bring her "home" with me. Took her a day to have a walk around and suss shit out......but already today, she's fine and the house is her own now. Helps that she will pick up the scent from both my wife and i. The drunken "where's my cat?" fonecall i got late last night was funny. Shows you how long it took for him to get home or even notice in the first place. Basically the fonecall in itself proved my point.

The cat will have a nice life here with us... :)

Good deal for the cat.

I grew up in an alcoholic household. Sucks big time.

My cats think you rock. Enuff said. Purrrfect post.

CaptainHowdy 06-02-2021 12:36 PM

Tell your dad cats make terrible tippling snacks.

For the first time in more than 40 years I have a cat staying with me.

In less than 3 weeks she has gone from being an obese house cat whose nipples were raw from rubbing on the floor to a curious cat that has learned about feeding times and seems to enjoy stalking squirrels and laying downwind from my weed plants.

Her owners always comment how trim she is getting

Yeah, me too. I do not care for drunks.

We have two cats, or should I say, two cats have us!

Yep it sure does.

I like a drink, and sure can get drunk (only every so often)....but it's definitely a social thing rather than just being a drunk.

Dad seems to wake up, then bars here open at 11am so, more often than not that's him out for the day/night. Gets home. Sleeps. Then repeat.

Meanwhile the cat which let's face it, cats are easy to care for....all they ask is food, water, and a little attention.

The fact she wasn't getting that just wasn't on. So already i have noticed a change in her behaviour. The purring sound is just, well for a cat owner that's all you want to hear.

I shouldn't have to worry or wonder if my cat (was my mums cat until she passed) has been fed. But that's exactly what was happening. Not good enough and unacceptable.

My dad won't change his ways so he can drink himself into whatever state he wants now. He's always been a heavy drinker even before mum's passing so it's not like that's what triggered it or an excuse for any if it. So.

So again it sounds like a new lease of life for the cat. Good.

I get when some people say they "aren't cat people". That's fine.

But it's when i hear people say they "hate" cats, i always stop and think...."ok hate is a strong word, care to explain ?". If you 'dislike' cats, ok. That's like me saying i dislike spiders which i do. I've always had spider fear since i was little ha. Do i hate spiders? No. I just don't like them through having a fear of.

There's a difference...

My mom drank herself to death at the ripe old age of 45.

I stopped drinking years ago when a friend of mine had to quit. Never was a real heavy drinker but quit so he had someone to hang out with that wasn't drinking as all his other friends were very alcohol-centric.

Nice! And good save.
I like cats but my only experience with a cat was in a house I redid in DC. Period perfect, down to the last detail. The cat did about 60k in damage—knocked over a vase, tore up the custom drapes, knocked an heirloom off the mantel, pissed all over several Persian rugs, scratched up several leather sofas and chairs; and it’s the only creature on earth that can take a more fowl dump than me. Lol.

TOP TIP: Be sure to keep the litter tray right next to your bed, on the side that you sleep on, and never empty it.

Not only will you get a relaxing aroma while you sleep, there is also the bonus poosibility that you will step in it with bare feet, should you get up to use the bathroom during the night... :thumbsup

(If however you are like me and you just go IN your bed, then this won't happen, however you can still enjoy the smell)

The most stressful car journey i have ever had lol.

5-10min drive. Felt like an hour.

Made her way upstairs and a corner next to my bed.

Decided that was enough for today and settled there for the rest of the night.

So that's been since she was "kidnapped" ha on Tues afternoon. Now the house is hers. From neglect to spolied (rightly so) in a matter of days.

She could be eating more, sure....but I'm hoping that will come in the next days and weeks...

:)

Aye she's a cracker! Should definitely have done this before now. Neglected for no reason other than someone chose alcohol instead of feeding a cat.

She is very much settled now... :thumbsup

Cats are actually for lazy people (that don't mind their furniture being destroyed) . . .
