Trip to Minneapolis

I need to be there on the 21st. I was unable to book a flight in and flight out on the same day by the website. So I called and there is a 10 hour wait for phone support, that's on Alaska airlines.

I was able to reserve a car from enterprise, it's about 600 bucks for the whole trip. However all they have available is midsize sedans and tiny cars. All the S UV's and premium cars are all reserved or rented out

This is almost 3 weeks in advance too

baddog 01-03-2022 10:24 AM

I can think of better times of the year to drive there than now.

Where are you flying out of? I thought you were near LA?

You can fly in and out on Southwest on the the 21st from LAX for $89 each way.

Delta is better, more expensive but you can get nonstop both ways for $477.20 total.

The southwest has a stop on both trips. Second trip takes you from minn to midway (chicago) so ends up being 8 hours all together.

Delta:

Los Angeles to Minneapolis

Delta • Fri, Jan 21
6:25am - 11:54am6:25am through 11:54am
3h 29m (Nonstop)

Minneapolis to Los Angeles

Delta • Fri, Jan 21
6:23pm - 8:23pm6:23pm through 8:23pm
4h (Nonstop)
4h (Nonstop)

I used Expedia for the Delta flight. Southwest.com for the southwest flights.

I worry about flight cancelation. That's all. What would you do? If the flights cancels book another I guess

I presume the pup will be too big to fit as carry-on which means he will go with luggage.

The problem doing that in the winter is that if it is too cold they won't let him on.

I did this with Buddy when I first got him. Did not know if he was going to get on until I got to the airport.

Southwest wasn't dog friendly back then; I had to take American with a plane change. Buddy got to LAX 5 hours before me.

Time for a road trip.

You know how they always say life is a journey? I like my journey in a nice car lol

Plus I don't want to break down out the middle of fucking nowhere in a snowstorm

It was a great car with zero mechanical problems and even the interior was clean.

Honestly, how much you spend on a car really isn't a good way to gauge it's reliability.

If he fits. I know I had planned on putting buddy under the seat but he grew too much to fit. Good luck

They tell me he will, when I got Killer he weighed 28#s when I got him and 8 weeks. 3.5 hour flight, he should sleep

Grapesoda 01-03-2022 06:55 PM

BTW I'm trusting the breeder, like you I'm concerned. I'll need to reserve the spot as only a limmited number of pets are allowed.... right now Delta is a 4 hour hold. Hopefully next week things will calm down a bit. Putting out the good vibe hoping for the best.

And it's gonna be weird. Haven't had a puppy for 11 years... and expensive more than likely lol

You can't book online? I mean I have the Delta app on my phone

Grapesoda 01-04-2022 07:43 AM

The flight is booked however I still have to get permission for the puppy. I'm pretty excited about it I spend a lot of time on Facebook at the masstiff forum. :)

baddog 01-04-2022 10:10 AM

Good luck
