Anyone migrated Vbulletin to Xenforo
As the title says.
I might need a bit of help and also have a couple basic questions. What issues popped up Did your theme you had on VBulletin work on Xen? Any issues with the DB Transfer to the new forum? |
I've been contemplating migration of some vB installs too. Bookmarking thread.

Yeah, plenty of times.
1. The converter plugin comes with XenForo itself, so you will not need to pay for any custom scripts, or for anyone to do it, really. 2. You won't lose any link juice due to 301 redirects, so everything will function as it was. 3. You will lose your theme, its customizations, and all addons. Basically: you will have to re-do your theme, customizations, and find similar addons. You would probably have to purchase a lot of them, since XenForo addon developers are only interested in selling the licenses. You will find some free ones, but mostly, you will have to pay. I would advise anyone who is running vB3 and vB4 to update as soon as possible. Not only because it runs very old PHP, but because it's not mobile compatible. Forums are damn hard to run as is, and the fact that it won't work properly on mobiles is a huge caveat, and probably makes you lose a decent chunk of users. If either you or AmeliaG need any help, feel free to PM. |

Thanks. plan to buy it in the next few days and then mess around with getting it installed. Will a standard VB theme work with it? |

XenForo was made by former vB devs, so even the color scheme resembles vB3. XenForo community forum uses the default theme, so it's what you can expect... there are lots of theme devs, though: ThemeHouse, PixelExit, XenFocus... just depends on your budget. If you'd rather use the default theme, you can change the colors easily... |
