I want to launch a Tube site. Things I should know?
Hey guys,
I'm looking forward to launching a tube site, but have no experience with them. I know that no one wants or will share the "secrets" to a successful tube, but I certainly would like to find out some essential things. So my main concern/question would be regarding content. I see many many sites with millions (!) of videos indexed, some of them are only a few years old or etc. So concern no. 1 (content):
Concern no. 2 (CMS):
Concern no. 3 (hosting):
Any kind of advice and answers are super-HIGHLY appreciated! Thank you! :bowdown |

- It takes alot of time to collect that many videos, because you have to process them too not just add them - Alot of sites use embeds - Scraping is very difficult now because most sites are behind cloudflare and it detects scrapers as a bot. - Many large tube sites have APIs that you can grab embeds from, which is a relatively fast way to load your site with embeds. 2) - Mechbunny, but i'm biased. - Wordpress is a CMS for running a blog that people have hacked into a million other things. 3) - The legalities depend on where you are based, what TLD your domain is (.com is considered a US asset),etc. Even most offshore hosts will ask you to remove content, no one is going to bother with a court battle over your $200-300/month server. It's best to just follow DMCA. |
To start you need to buy content first, 50k to start.. search the content section

The real trick to making a successful tube is to make more money out of it than what you put in.

Best advice: don't.

I'd recommend KVS. It is well-designed, well-coded, it has amazing support and many versatile functionalities.

I said it before...... another tube is like another case of nail fungus. Stealing content is illegal :2 cents:

Yep, I really don't like the idea of embedding random videos and leaking link juice all over. Plus it doesn't seem like a serious, long-term approach. A lot of people seem to be against a new tube. :Oh crap I understand why, there are literally thousands of crappy sites. I actually want to do something user-friendly, with a unique design., not overloaded with ads, etc., a multi-niche site. My main concern remains with content and it's quantity. Seems like the biggest challenge. |

If you got the money for a tube then you've heard what many have said - create your own site preferably niche and shoot original content. Make sure you have a good lawyer so that your documents are in order first. You can be successful but tubes are a dime a dozen and being watched carefully now - not to mention the amount of content you'll need just to make it interesting and worth using by users you'll need to spend a great deal more money just to start.
If you want to talk about start up give me a skype call and I'd be happy to help (no charge) - best to know exactly what you're getting into before going. |

why do you want to make a tube?
what skills do you have? stick with a niche :2 cents: |
if its just a hobby site, who cares, slap that shit together and move on.
if its a business, you already failed. the money and time cost to make a profit is way out of proportion to earnings. a hot dog cart is more profitable. free sites are ad-filled garbage. you won't make money on ads, so your only goal will be pushing traffic to better sites. there's money in traffic. :2 cents: # |
You should know better.
|
Would you open up a bar in a crowded street which already has like 100 popular bars, without a plan on how to attract guests?
You are worrying about the wrong things here. You need to come up with a long term plan first, an actual use case, and come up with ways to market it. After that, you can worry about all the technical stuff. |
You should know that you will most likely fail.

How can you start. You do not have basic knowledge

I imagine that quite a lot of tubes are actually stealing content from one another... But overall, I get all of y'all points - it's gonna be a super-hard job to even make a semi-successful tube. Thanks to you, I' now leaning more towards something more niche. :D |

If you plan on doing a large tube, wordpress may not cope. |

The problem you may find is you get a LOT of traffic, but not many conversions.
A lot of people make the mistake of filling tubes with lots and lots of adverts and popups. |
There is a lot of shitty porn content on the internet. I would focus on the quality of the content: fresh, long-lasting content and HD at a minimum. A niche tube backed by good affiliate programs would be a good starting point. And I would rule out uploading the videos and even embedding them: simply category pages with an image and text display per scene, and linking directly to the original video published in the corresponding tube. An example would be: ToroPorno.
This would be in summary, I hope I have explained myself properly... |

donīt waste your money in trying to update content unless you want to provide new content or unseen content, legal of course! This is key :2 cents: |
Go to PH , you can have all their vids

I'd also advise against WordPress. It simply isn't made for what you're trying to use it for. Expect to comply with DMCA no matter where you end up, so get a good reputable adult-friendly host... like MojoHost ;) |
