Tim Burton's new Wednesday is out. Anyone watching?

Anyone else watching Tim Burton's version called Wednesday on Netflix with the 20 year old Jenna Ortega? Love it - although at times it has a Harry Potter vibe to it the story line is creative and she acts extremely well. Her dance scene has created a cult along with her style but outside of that - it's very dark with a twisted sense of humor. Typical Burton.

Finished it yesterday. While I'm not necessarily a huge 'Addams Family' fan (aside from the 1991 Pinball that is) I found it one of the more enjoyable things I've watched on Netflix recently.

todservices 11-26-2022 03:14 PM

Netflix lol

Ok, not sure what you're thinking because it was short - but if I'm right - I normally don't watch netflix much but after hearing Tim Burton an seeing some of the trailers I thought I would give it a try - and glad I did.

Do you just hate Netflix? or basically anything streaming

We have similar minds - I haven't finished it yet - try to get stolen time between work and looking after 5 kids with wife so rarely get a chance. yet I'm half way through and same as you I'm completely surprised that something I normally wouldn't watch is actually pretty good.

fuzebox 11-26-2022 06:53 PM

I'm enjoying it. Harry Potter vibes but doesn't take itself seriously.

baddog 11-26-2022 07:44 PM

It's okay, not what I was hoping for, but I will probably watch the whole thing.

I would be surprised if there is a season two.

I'm not much of a Tim Burton fan. I liked Edward Scissorhands and Beatlejuice, but hated his version of Batman. For everyone else I just couldn't get into it, so I lost interest in anything his name was attached to.

Yeah, um.... PASS! :)

...though, it is a pretty cool looking toy.

We watched it but I did find it to be pretty cringey. The only part I liked was when she was dancing to The Cramps. It wasn't completely unwatchable for a Netflix production.

I'm watching The Peripheral on Amazon and it is only slightly better.

I guess I won't waste my time on Peripheral

What are the odds?

Sitting here literally watching it right now. It's not really able to hold my attention so started scrolling through GFY and here's this thread. Perhaps it's a sign...

sarettah 11-28-2022 09:26 PM

Just finished it tonight. Liked it.

Took me about 2 or 3 episodes to get into it and finished it - was hooked.

Sort of like Only Murders In The Building that was on Disney+ and Hulu. That was amazing

rhon23 11-29-2022 09:43 AM

I absolutely loved it. It has that element of strangeness that I enjoy. And Thing was my favorite. The stitches on his hands were on point.

I’m 3 episodes in right now because the kids wanted to watch it, I must admit that Zeta-Jones is still surprisingly fuckable :)

Agreed - and desperate LOL wonder how many drink's she had before even filming the kiss scenes with Gomez? I mean if I was her it's be like "no takes - you get one chance"

But it does prove one thing to everyone watching - if you have enough money - you to can have a hot wife who will have to kiss you passionately because you're the one listed as getting everything in the will.

I am watching... AND learning and considering a parody clip during AVN if I can find the right model

How hard is it to find a skinny goth girl with black hair - no facial tattoo's with the ability to not give a shit?

I guess we will find out

Everyone says it's nice. Putting the show in my queue...

I was actually shocked yesterday when my wife's dad said he watched it and liked it. Has a Harry Potter vibe to it and just an FYI Gomez is chosen not from the TV version of the dad but the comic book. I found that out when I was like - the parents had no chemistry.

1215 12-07-2022 09:35 AM

It was great. Very dry humor if ya like that sorta thing. The old Addams Family movie is good too.

2MuchMark 12-07-2022 09:46 AM

Just found this:

This looks like it might be a fun show afterall - will check it out this weekend.

AmeliaG 12-07-2022 02:54 PM

It was stupid but watchable up until the finale episode. The finale was just eye rollingly dumb and had tone problems.

They lost the joy and humor of the source material. They also didn't understand the source material. The Addams family members do not identify as "outcasts" and are generally oblivious to their kooky and creepy vibe freaking people out.

The actress who played Wednesday saved a terrible script with her excellent performance. But the show creators did not seem to comprehend the difference between goth girl and unredeemed selfish jerk.

What they did expanding the role and presentation of Thing was really fun.

I predict that show will get a zillion seasons.

If you watch this then you can forego the rest. This is the only memorable scene.

For me his version of Batman is the best heh .. when talking about Batman I'm connecting it with Tim Burton/Michael Keaton .. that's the only Batman for me .. never watched Edward Scissorhands and Beatlejuice btw...

Tim Burton only directed the first half of Wednesday, which may explain some of the uneven tone.

The exact oppoosite of what i look for in my models... Infact, being able to 'Give a Shit' is a prerequisite... :2 cents:

2MuchMark 12-10-2022 07:50 PM

I am 5 episodes into it and its... "ok". The quirky characters are fun but I feel like its going all over the palce as far as the story goes. It might have made a better 2 hour movie or pilot than an 8 episode show.
