Is this possible? Randomize order of files in folder?
Lets say I have 30 video clips, from my phone in a folder - Lets say for example they are clips of trains passing by. Ranging from 20 seconds, to 2 mins in length, and all lengths in-between.
By default, they are in the folder in the order which they were taken in - Perfectly sensible... But... Is there a way to mix them up randomly, so when I drag them to the timeline in my editing program, to ad transitions and join them all together, I end up with a totally random order? What's the simplest way of getting a random order, besides just guessing at them? |
sort them by size, which means the videos with the lowest size will appear top and so on, or just add a random letter or two to the beggining of each video filename and then sort them by name. if there are many videos you can create a simple script that will do this for you, if you do not know how to make a script like this I can make one for you (for free of course)

Maybe, right click in any folder => Sort By ...
You get all the usual sort options, but if click "More" there are 2.736 billion others that can be added. Possibly even something poo related if you scroll far enough ... |

I'm actually surprised though that 'random' ISNT an option - Given that there are so many other pre-programed ones there, that I was oblivious to... |

You could use Bulk Rename Utility and sort by random, then rename numerically.
