It looks like Netflix membership has worked
A few months ago Netflix stopped people sharing passwords, and there was a big social media moan, and many saying they would stop membership.
It looks like they have increased membership, so it looks like this has worked for them. It is said they have not made a profit because they have spent more on TV shows and films than they have made in sales. It is interesting how much profit a single membership makes them, considering it must be expensive to host the servers, buy TV shows and all the staff they have. I think of the big porn sites over the years who invested a fortune in content, and would offer affiliate's 100% of affiliates sales and would fly around in private jets, only to go bust after blowing away all the cash believing that in the long term they would make a profit. |
Well, it's not option to use it if you have household with multiple ip connections.

I remember when you could share earthlink dialup accounts

Their stock sure has improved, that's for sure

Here in the UK my Son shares my account - I think its only fair really, as I pay for access to 4 screens at the same time, but only ever use one.
We are both with the same internet provider, and every few mins the IP is different. Sometimes I'm 'located' hundreds of miles south of where I am, and then later 100 miles north (so to speak) Not quite sure how they are going to work out that we are different people, when the internet provider is the same but everytime we log in, we are in a different location! |
I am still sharing my account with my sister and my mom and they don't even live in the same city as me and it still works
|
100m were sharing and apparently this led to 5.9M signups after the ban

If you login to Netflix through your Comcast cable box, their strategy doesn’t work… but yeah, I had to help mom and dad setup a new Netflix because they were using mine-
