Post-Covid Conversion Ratios For Paysites
Since we are now, more or less, past the whole Covid pandemic thing I thought it would be interesting to check in and re-visit paysite conversions ratios. Especially in the current CC-restricted tube era and rise of Only Fans let's see what you consider to be "the new norm" in terms of conversions.
I realize this depends greatly on niche, traffic sources, etc etc but let's just ask if you have seen a fluctuation in your ratios? This could be for better or worse... Factor in a coming recession (already here in some places), a shifting demographic, the rise of work-from-home workers and digital nomads, throw in crypto and Wall Street roller coasters, AI generators, social media madness...let's just say things have changed a LOT since 2019 (pre-pandemic). My prediction for the future is that paysites will rise again in importance since they are the only places still producing more than just solo girl content. But we will see... So how has all this affected your business? In an ever-changing landscape those of us who have managed to stay around for a few years (decades) need to stick together, learn and share and, as they say, adapt or die. The trade shows are coming up so it will be interesting to see if some of these issues are addressed! :thumbsup |
Simple calculation, all traffic (Monday) on all paysites divided by the total amount of joins = 1:791
TBH I would not know if this is better or worse than before. Just so many factors changed that a ratio is not saying a whole lot anymore. Different types of sales, different ways of getting them, internal sales, cross sales, free joins etc etc. For us the last few years have been very good. Best year since I started here in 2013 (time flies). |
Blimey, a business thread!

Ten years for you there?? Wow! More proof paysites are still profitable. :thumbsup Quote:
Also while every paysite operation is unique with its' own traffic sources, resources, content, etc some similarities exist. :) |

I make decisions on CPA since I pay for traffic. |

covid may be over but we'll be paying for it for decades. most of the world is far from recovered.
in the early covid years everybody was at home and still had savings accounts. lots of money + nothing to do = good porn sales.. then the govts of the world crushed the people with lockdowns and inflation, wiping out savings, and putting a majority of people into credit spending. now people are digging out. conversion rates and sales were kicking ass all of 2020 and 2021. they stabilized in 2022 and most site sales dropped around 15-25% this year. i see growth starting to come back and i think it will pick up thru the winter. i don't watch a huge number of sites, but i do watch a variety :winkwink: # |
people still run pay sites?

I know in the UK, thereīs talk about wearing masks again, seems this is the same in other countries too... the latest covid news is, itīs not all over... however, onto business, our stats havenīt changed much, weīre still making about 1000: 1 hits to sales on my official membership pay site, similar on Southerncumsluts.com manyvids is up & same with onlyfans, but OF isnīt like it was back in 2019, before covid, i was making nearly 600 a week, wished that continued lol. DVD sales have gone down, compared to a few years ago too :helpme so membership is up, tubes are up clips sites are up, but OF & dvdīs are down... :thumbsup |

With the rise of Only Fans, social media and mainstream streaming services the Adult Industry needs some fresh, new traffic sources rather than trying to just hold on to past glories. Adapt or die applies to everyone I'm afraid. For me I am only introducing fresh new websites with 4k and HD content (announcements coming soon). :pimp |

In my opinion, ratios are a bad metric to compare with other people. It varies wildly from one business to another.
I think the only comparable metric is sales volume. Are you making more or less money after Covid? |

its always interesting - if you have the energy :1orglaugh social got a lot bigger for marketing too. i think we're going back to the social/word-of-mouth style marketing (1 to 1 to 1 to 1) rather than mass broadcast. # |

btw, at some point people will get bored of the same old random type of girl selling nudes on OF or cams with nothing that makes them stand out from the rest, making what you really want time consuming and/or expensive, so if done right, niche paysites could have a big comeback. You know, separate the wannabe "daddy" types from the guys who want to see a specific type of porn, then send them to the appropriate paysites. Funnel and pre-lander stuff, too, why not, you know.. |

Have there been any good speeches at any shows lately about the future of porn? |

i'm looking forward to the OF crowd gravitating over to paysites. the paysites need new social tools tho. OF customers got used to DMs and private content. many of the site owners i know don't want to engage with members. # |

it looks like you are spending too much time on content and not enough time increasing your profits. why not make 5x more per shoot if the potential customers are out there waiting for you? # |

WE do not spend 400 to 500 grand on a movie as we used to and take 18 days to shoot it, that does not work for about 20 years. We need to be more frugal and efficient. We rely on a repeat business and the word of mouth. We do not use ( and we do not know anyway) any tricks or schemes to drive customers to our site. All we know how to do is to script it, shoot it, post it. We used to "pray" to Alexa and at one point we were ranked at low 100,000's but since Alexa crashed, we just go by the seat of our pants. But it works for us, it is quite safe and certain as i have said above. |

God... I'll never forget the day I had the yuuuuge chicken burger at the Luxe cafe in Vegas, in the Venetian, then I went to some awesome dinner hosted by I forget at the Ghost Bar. The Phoenix Forum memories I have were all amazing too! That was such a great show. All those photos over the years by JFK and I don't know where to find them all. I remember someone being pissed at me because I spilled the beans about Kate from Kate's Playground being pregnant, like I knew it was going to be a big deal! Porn Nerd, have you been to any recent shows? What is your favourite one? I think Phoenix Forum was my favourite, partially because Steve Lightspeed is a fun guy and it is in his area, and partially because the field trip we made to House of Blues was so memorable. What were people doing in those booths?!? Ohhh shit... don't spill the beans! :kisskiss |

For European shows I really like the Prague one coming up but the ones in Berlin can be fun, too. I never went to the more exotic locales like Cyprus or Mallorca but I got the feeling it was the same group of people going from show-to-show so once I hit a couple I was pretty much done. Hope everyone going to the European shows this year have a great time!! |

there's new channels and strategies every year. you have to keep up to grow. i understand being comfortable. i hit that point all the time. however stability and stagnation always lead to decline. its a law of growth. partnering with a marketing person is good, if you can find one who keeps up with new trends and won't cheat on their timesheets. a stagnating marketer might as well go work at a restaurant (and they probably do!) i know some marketers who have been doing the exact same campaigns for years. you can see the gradual declines in their sales. so yea, marketing is crucial, and also hard work :helpme:1orglaugh # |

It is easy to check how much our site grosses per month..... then if somebody comes about and does not give me stupid suggestions like buying traffic or let our stuff be pirated.... then I would suggest to my bosses to split 50/50 any increase on monthly bases above the main..... So if the site ( keep the numbers simple) grosses 10,000 in a month and then it goes to 15,000 then we would pay 2,500, but if the marketing cost was 5,000 then we would pay " bupkis"....I call it a performance bonus. ... and so it goes. |

Ad sales only work under certain circumstances (not great for paysites), link trades/buys do ok depending on the source but tend to 'run out' in terms of effectiveness relatively quickly these days...so it can be frustrating and can lead to the stagnation you mentioned. Quote:

1. who is your target customer for each of your billion sites? what do they look like? what kind of house and cars do they have? how much money do they have? are they married, retired, in college, or living in a van down by the river? 2. where do they hang out socially? are they all closet bbq dads in the suburbs? do they hang out in gay goth clubs? are they online at all? what sites and forums? 3. how do you get a message to them? social media, thru friends, PR in a gay goth newsletter? we're fully in the pull not push marketing era. one member at a time. it sucks. its hard work and its slow. but they rebill forever. # |
