Donation / tipping for adult site?
 

What options are available for donations/tips on an adult themed site? Not a streamer or some personality that interacts with supporters etc... just a general adult themed site with a faceless webmaster.

I've had a bitcoin address on one of my sites for 5+ years, but in that time it's only been sent some dust (worth cents)... and that was only once. :1orglaugh

Something like a Paypal donate button?

Are you getting regular requests from surfers asking how they can donate or support?

Might be easier to make a page explaining that if they want to support your site, they can sign up to a pay site or buy a product under your link so that you get commission, with one low cost / high quality option.

That's what I would have thought. I mean you cant use it to sell a subscription for digital adult goods (directly) but just a voluntary donation, with nothing expected in return, I cant see an issue... Thats playing by the TOS that is...

You can use paypal to sell an adult DVD or any actual physical adult goods. You are not allowed to accept it to pay for a monthly subscription ie 'Digital Goods'

The caveat is that epoch can use paypal to pay for adult subscriptions, but thats them (epoch) doing it on your behalf - Just not directly.

With a donate button, you are not selling anything, digital or physical, adult or otherwise - Its just a donation, and upon a cursory glance at the paypal.me T&Cs https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/pages/terms Or the associated Acceptable Use Policy https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mp...ptableuse-full again, I cant immediately see why not...

Gift cards would be another simple option.

Uncertain what type of site you run. Your message seeking donations needs to be appropriate for what you are doing. For solo sites, where "freemium" may be in play, it's a bit easier to ask for donations, one off, or in the form of a regular schedule.

Example: Hey I am a model attending the University. As you can clearly see I have this fun little side hustle of posting myself online for all of you. If you like what I am posting, and want to contribute to my future success as a model or graduate, buy me a tea/coffee, cover my weekly trips to Starbucks, buy me a school book or contribute to a portion of it, etc.

If you are already charging for services such as memberships on your site, why not just add a new product code, and call it a donation? It should be very easy to do with any processor you are working with now.

Donations & tips are great. There are alot of users out there who are more than happy to donate money to their favourite models, just because they can. It's an easy way to boost revenue.

:1orglaugh kind of desperation... no one will donate to a regular porn site with content that can be found elsewhere, you would need to have something incredibly interesting and unique.

I said "adult themed" in my OP, but it's not a regular porn site. It's interactive text.

i think Patreon still allows adult. a lot of ytubers have Patreon so they can make some money.

PornCMS has a tipping plugin. there's probably a lot of WP plugins for tips too.

I did ask for donations on another site of mine - again, adult themed, but not a typical TGP or paysite whose content you can download from a ripper - and got a fair few, but that was a while back. Those were the days...

you never know what people will spend money on. they pay for OF models with 5 videos :1orglaugh

Not sure if you're joking but Wikipedia makes so much money from donations that people write essays on Wikipedia about how they make too much money. It's about $200,000,000 per year now.
