Update on my journey
 

Hello GFY,
a month ago i came back to the porn industry after a miserable fail a couple of years prior.
I tried creating a couple of TGPs, without any knowledge, and i soon realized that wasn't really a thing for me. I struggled to keep them updated, I had little to zero interest to do that. Things I do and don't love are always mid. So they just sit there for now.

I coded another website (petitecuties.com) with a new goal. I don't wanna aim to JUST making money with this tube, like I did in the past. I want to make it look good, with good content. I want to go big in quality, performance, usability, scalability.
But of course I dont spit on money ;)

Features: Video type, Image type, Video categories, Auth, User Dashboard (WIP), Video upload (watermarked and hosted on CDN), Custom video player with VAST ads (WIP), Rating, Views, Video search.
And much more need to be added, only a matter of time.

Technologies and stuff: Hosted on a 10$/month VPS, PM2 + Nginx, NextJS


I'm not very good at bringing traffic on porn sites (petitecuties.com has 400/500 views a day on average), but I know I'm a good developer (it's my job after all :thumbsup), so i'm betting on that.


Just wanted to share this. I feel like i'm going in a good direction :)

Nice stack! It's very fast on that tiny VPS, so I'm sure you've done good work with the database and backend. That's the hardest part, next to traffic...

Just a few suggestions, but I'm sure you're aware of them:

The user experience needs a little bit of improvement, especially when it comes to previewing videos (preloading/precache might be a good idea here) and making use of gestures. I think that's probably the biggest retention element these days, UX in regard to the mobile experience. Use your own website and you'll find all the little issues.

I noticed that the IMA integration with the player complains when adblock or DNS denylists are used. I had difficulty loading one video, but then another worked just fine. It's a pain, but you might want to review the site with some kind of asset blocking and tracking disabled. A lot of people are privacy concerned when it comes to adult these days. You may want to upgrade the player too, so you can get more features like casting. I like plyr, personally.

I'm having some issues with the preview from mobile, but it shouldn't take long to fix

The player is not the best, yea. I'm using videojs with an iframe currently :( but i plan on converting it soon to NextJS and add more stuff to it, like casting. I will also add the double tap for skipping, I think that's a nice thing to have.
I tried chakra too, I will check out plyr :)

And I wasn't aware about the adblock stuff actually, thanks for pointing that out!
