who remembers Porncity.net?

Porncity.net once claimed to be "The #1 Adult Traffic Domain on the Planet" , not so sure I agree, but... anyway, now you too can own a piece of XXX Internet memorabilia, for only $90 you can Buy It Now - https://tinyurl.com/ycsxhsvp

The Porn Nerd 12-27-2024 11:26 AM

I thought you were the Mayor of Porn City, no? :)

Way back in the day we banned anyone using porncity for their pic galleries from AL4A and Ampland because it couldn't handle the traffic we would send.

Brings back memories for sure.

So many people getting space on there and making money back in the 1990's.

Mindi 12-27-2024 01:22 PM

Not too interested in .net domains these days

DirtyDreamer 12-27-2024 01:44 PM

I remember them and had a bunch of free sites hosted by them. I had a t-shirt and a lighter. I still have the lighter.

Dugmor 12-27-2024 01:49 PM

I have a lot of old porn show memorabilia I can sell.

How much would a Cybererotica boob sell for?

Goddamn those things! lol
You never knew when people would start throwing them across the showroom floor (back when Internext was HUGE and at the Sands Convention Center at The Venetian).

One minute you're standing there talking business...the next minute you get drilled in the face by a flying Cyberotica boob! :1orglaugh

Yeah, but then it became the thing to do on the last day of the show when everyone was packing up their booths.

They had boxes and boxes of them. So I guess they are not so rare unless you are a freak like me and have a lot of old porn swag in your attic.

It was like a rite of passage. You're not a real webmaster unless you've been blindsided by a CE boob.

I still have 2 or 3 of them in the office here.

Out of the thousands and thousands of webmasters attending those shows at The Venetian...I'll bet there are barely a handful of us left still in the business.
Or the shows before that...I remember how incredible the show in Miami back in 1998 was...wow!
The old "IA" shows.

The old "IA" shows.

IA2000 was great with RJB Telegram / Bob Botto from Kara's Adult Playground closing down the biggest strip club on Burbon Street and it was all night.

The Fay Sharp/ Mike Gold CyberNet shows were great.

On the Webmaster Cruise back in the mid-90's, there were a few of us there. I remember Terry wearing a Top Hat in the blistering Bahama sun.

Do you remember when ...

Lensman had a links list and took photos?

SweetT's claim to fame was GeorgiaGirls?

MarcDe had only four gay pay sites?

Bob Botto posted on a free website he and Rich owned called Karas?

DragonKing and Meatman lived in Antiqua?

Nick was known for Ilynx?

CashQuest was a top sponsor with five sites?

The first time Penthouse tried to make it on the web?

You saw /knights/ in your click code URL sending traffic to Serge?

Woody's listed the best top lists?

The top traffic site was called Cliffie's?

Dugmor 12-27-2024 04:25 PM

Here is the original MAXCASH program. :thumbsup

My biz partner at the time was AL4A and we got SO fucked up at that New Orleans show.
We literally walked out of the hotel wasted and got in a cab and told the driver to take us to the hotel...he replied: "You're already at your hotel" lol

Hadn't heard Dragon King's name brought up in forever!

Edit: shit I have to keep editing this as I look over the list of stuff you made there...and yes, I remember all of that. So many of them not here anymore. I was talking on the phone to Nick just a couple of weeks before he was gone a few years ago.

Made so much money with those guys back then. They were pop-up kings but we got them to give us "clean" links that didn't do that to our surfers.

That was a $50,000 a month program to promote on average

Holy shit, taking it waaaay back.

Does anyone remember JJJ links? I remember the first gallery I I submitted to them and was accepted. I had a counter at the bottom of the page. I woke up one morning and it had something like 190,000+ uniques in like 8 hours. I looked at the stats for the sponsor and it showed something like $1,800. I was like cool! I get 20% of that which is killer! The revenue kept rising but at the same time depleting over the next weeks. What I didn’t realize was that the sales figure that I was seeing WAS the 20%. I immediately stopped going to my day job, bought some (very overpriced) hosting, and I was off in my internet sales/marketing journey. This was like 1998 or 1999. Hand making galleries in Microsoft Front Page on my $3,000 HP Pavilion 300mhz or whatever it was that I purchased from Circuit City. It was all on dial-up too! I think I used a company called Atlantic.net for my ISP. Ahh, the memories.

Maqua 12-27-2024 05:57 PM

First program I remember was UltraCash, I think he was from Nova Scotia

I also remember meeting MarcD and Becky from ARS when there was a Great Lakes Webmaster convention, MarcD showing off pictures of his car collection, pretty sure that show was in Windsor Ont.

Meeting Meat and Aga from Netpond at IA 2000 then again in Vancouver, here are a couple more old names, Electra and Dravyk from AllOfEm :)

https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna3078828 here is a old article from IA 2000 in New Orleans

I liked the show in Montreal as well, it was a good time :thumbsup

grzepa 12-28-2024 04:04 AM

My first sale was a ccbill sale with Sapphic Erotica back in 2003 . Not that old school but still remember porncity, jjj links etc.

todservices 12-28-2024 04:11 AM

I remember Danny at Porncity, really cool dude
I met him at IA2000 in New Orleans, September 2000.
24 fucking years ago...

Zuzana Designs 12-28-2024 08:03 AM

I have a beanie, thong, and shirt from PC! I may need to dig them out and list them on ebay ;) My first show was in Florida with all of them. Good times!

I still have a PornCity.net hoodie.

Robbie 12-28-2024 12:46 PM

Yep signed up for ARS and MaxCash right off the bat back in the day.
But started making real money in the beginning with Blacks On Blondes.

They gave me a pass into the site and I would grab 10 of those old screenshot "4 pics in one" pics they had with each video update and make a gallery.
Run one a day on AL4A and Ampland and was making over $10,000 a week just off of that.

If you ever wondered how badly tube sites hurt the paysite industry...that is a good example.

Memory lane.

Penthouse never did finish paying me for all the content they bought from me.

AutumnBH 12-29-2024 09:28 PM

I remember MaxCash had a really awesome webmaster education series by Snoops & Mike Fold. It introduced me to the concept of the "surfer trap" which is still a concept I see being used today.

In fact just the other day I was having a look at one of the spdates funnels and it was a classic surfer trap, just keeping the surfer banging around in their own stuff until he finally signs up for something or the click can be monetized somehow.

For some strange reason, I never knew you were partners with AL4A and Ampland. You guys sent me a ton of joins! ( remember when people called them "joins" )

Who were your partners?

Did you guys sell the sites? To whom?

I see AL4A is still online but Ampland redirects.

bufferover 12-30-2024 08:56 AM

Al and I were partners in several things. The freesites, real estate in real life, a content company, a domain resume, etc.

AL4A was sold to Pierre at Worldsex a long time ago.

Al and I dissolved our companies and parted ways in early 2007 so I don't know who he sold Ampland to.

shimmy2 12-30-2024 11:19 PM

my first check was from $14 from xpics, then gammacash, then karas... then launched my own sites and programs. there was an old school program for a site called unfaithful that was a good members area upsell. it was cool until i realized they never canceled people when they asked, found out by joining the site myself. lots of big players got big doing that

Roald 12-31-2024 03:57 AM

I always preferred Terra.es

djroof 01-01-2025 08:58 AM

I recently found a Porncity pen in a drawer. I still have a few shot glasses and beer mugs as well as an ashtray and I think maybe a lighter. I had clothing but gave it away a long time ago.
