Way back in the day we banned anyone using porncity for their pic galleries from AL4A and Ampland because it couldn't handle the traffic we would send.

Brings back memories for sure.

Out of the thousands and thousands of webmasters attending those shows at The Venetian...I'll bet there are barely a handful of us left still in the business.
Or the shows before that...I remember how incredible the show in Miami back in 1998 was...wow!

IA2000 was great with RJB Telegram / Bob Botto from Kara's Adult Playground closing down the biggest strip club on Burbon Street and it was all night.

The Fay Sharp/ Mike Gold CyberNet shows were great.

My biz partner at the time was AL4A and we got SO fucked up at that New Orleans show.
We literally walked out of the hotel wasted and got in a cab and told the driver to take us to the hotel...he replied: "You're already at your hotel" lol

Made so much money with those guys back then. They were pop-up kings but we got them to give us "clean" links that didn't do that to our surfers.

That was a $50,000 a month program to promote on average

Does anyone remember JJJ links? I remember the first gallery I I submitted to them and was accepted. I had a counter at the bottom of the page. I woke up one morning and it had something like 190,000+ uniques in like 8 hours. I looked at the stats for the sponsor and it showed something like $1,800. I was like cool! I get 20% of that which is killer! The revenue kept rising but at the same time depleting over the next weeks. What I didn’t realize was that the sales figure that I was seeing WAS the 20%. I immediately stopped going to my day job, bought some (very overpriced) hosting, and I was off in my internet sales/marketing journey. This was like 1998 or 1999. Hand making galleries in Microsoft Front Page on my $3,000 HP Pavilion 300mhz or whatever it was that I purchased from Circuit City. It was all on dial-up too! I think I used a company called Atlantic.net for my ISP. Ahh, the memories.

First program I remember was UltraCash, I think he was from Nova Scotia

I also remember meeting MarcD and Becky from ARS when there was a Great Lakes Webmaster convention, MarcD showing off pictures of his car collection, pretty sure that show was in Windsor Ont.

Run one a day on AL4A and Ampland and was making over $10,000 a week just off of that.

I remember MaxCash had a really awesome webmaster education series by Snoops & Mike Fold. It introduced me to the concept of the "surfer trap" which is still a concept I see being used today.

In fact just the other day I was having a look at one of the spdates funnels and it was a classic surfer trap, just keeping the surfer banging around in their own stuff until he finally signs up for something or the click can be monetized somehow.

For some strange reason, I never knew you were partners with AL4A and Ampland.You guys sent me a ton of joins! ( remember when people called them "joins" )

Al and I were partners in several things. The freesites, real estate in real life, a content company, a domain resume, etc.

AL4A was sold to Pierre at Worldsex a long time ago.

Al and I dissolved our companies and parted ways in early 2007 so I don't know who he sold Ampland to.

my first check was from $14 from xpics, then gammacash, then karas... then launched my own sites and programs. there was an old school program for a site called unfaithful that was a good members area upsell. it was cool until i realized they never canceled people when they asked, found out by joining the site myself. lots of big players got big doing that
