Ofcom is going after FTV, 4Chan,Im.ge, Krakenfiles, Nippybox, Nippydrive, Nippyshare, Nippyspace

The online message board 4chan is being investigated by the UK communications regulator over failure to comply with recently introduced online safety rules.

Ofcom says it has received complaints over potential illegal content on the website, which has not responded to its requests for information.

Under the Online Safety Act, online services must assess the risk of UK users encountering illegal content and activity on their platforms, and take steps to protect them from it.

Ofcom is also investigating porn provider First Time Videos over its age verification checks, and seven file sharing services over potential child sexual abuse material.

Good, those file sharing services host a ton of illegal and stolen content. That's basically all they exist for.

I don't understand what these sites have to do with UK law or what they have to fear from UK law,
apart from an IP block in the UK, if neither the domain, the server, the operator location nor the owner has any connection with the UK?

I'm thinking the same.

Though they might just be going through the proper legal channels to get these domains blocked by UK ISP's.

Something along the lines of "looking busy at work".

And then if one of the owners flies to somewhere like the British Virgin Islands for a vacation they find themselves in cuffs and being sent to London for some jail time.

For what, for operating a website that has no connection to Great Britain whatsoever?
Wouldn't that mean that the UK would interfere with the legislation of the actual operator and place of operation?

You ever hear about international cooperation?
The is no country to hide in to distribute child abuse content.
The UK will ask the hosting nation to shut the site down and it will be done.

:2 cents:

I agree with the child abuse content, but not with the age check for visitors.
Age checks are always a country-specific matter!

I just added the UK to my age check list.

If you are in this business, you should and would know exactly what Ofcom is.

Exactly, anyone with a site that has more than a few hundred visitors a day has probably already gotten a ton of emails from them

Probably just another government-funded NGO where former government employees
or their family members embezzle taxpayer money and play with their cocks 11 out of 12 months of the year!

OFCOM received money from the government to deal with this, and if it means going over to where these sites work from or how ever much it takes to get payment or have sites compliant to UK laws, then OFCOM will continue to administrate fines & rules to these sites, and they will end up complying :2 cents:
