Building a new PC for Windows 11?
Anyone else thinking of doing the "upgrade" soon?
Should I go AMD? Stick with Intel? I'm thinking of a budget Ryzen setup but with a good motherboard and a 5060 Ti video card or something. I know the whole Windows 10 end of support thing is probably going to be a nothing burger, but I keep having dreams where I wake up and my computer is hacked and wiped from some sort of crazy Windows 10 hack that takes out millions of computers world wide and I lose all my Allan Fong AI videos and and COVID conspiracy memes! My computer is currently really fast and a great desktop, but the motherboard doesn't support the shit I need for Windows 11! FUCK!!!!! :helpme |
I cunt a4d a new pc 🦉

I'm not sure about the 5060Ti but with the 3060Ti it actually had less VRam than the cheaper 3060 - If you are using it for local AI then VRam is very important...
I learnt that the hard way..... Update: I just looked and the 5060s both come with 8 gigs - The Ti also has a 16 gig variant - I would def go for that if I was interested in AI... |

Do those pyramid cases make the pc work better? I never seen one, but I am getting really old. |

Also you can always tag me and I'll do my best to help too. Save yourself some money. I put it on my old 2015 MacBook Pro and it feels snappier than it did when I bought it in 2015. |

Left Windows many moons ago and never looked back.
Started with Mac but quickly realized it wasn't great for my style of traveling, ie it was stolen quite fast. So went with a less inviting machine, covered it in stickers and put Ubuntu on it. Runs fast and doesn't get stolen either :thumbsup The best part is you can use any of your old machines and give them new life with Linux rather than spending your hard earned vodka money. |
I bought a Microsoft Surface Pro a few months ago with an AMD chip. Had no idea this was an ARM chip. The ARM chip is more commonly used in cell phones and tablets. They use less power and have less heat (and no fans). It sounds great on paper until you discover some software does not run on Windows using an ARM chip. So.....
As for I use refurbish old Alienware PCs. You can have an ugly computer box on your desktop or at least something that looks cool. |
