$75?

LOL... Facebook Marketplace.

I am selling an old paradigm subwoofer on Facebook marketplace for $80.00. It works, but it makes a noise when played at high volume. I suspect its the Amp, but I don't know, and I don't care. I listed it on Marketplace for $80.00, described it in detail, including the noise, included pictures, etc. Buy it for parts. At least it has a new driver.

I also clearly said these 2 things:

1. If you are still reading this, then yes it is still available. It is the first line of the ad.
2. My Price is $80.00 Firm.
3. Pickup Only.

This fucking clown cotacts me and says: Is it still available?

Sigh... yes. It's first line in the ad and, whatever...

Then he asks: I'll take it today for $75.00.

WTF is he bitching about $5.00 for? I said "No, $80.00 firm. Just. Like. It. Says. In. The. Ad.

Then he asks "Can you deliver it?"

argh....

Finally he goes "Hold it for me, I will take it for $75 but I insist you bring it to me. why I should spend gas?"

!@!@#&*!@#*&%#*#($%#4....

Why are you bitching about the $5 too though?

was wondering the same thing myself... i deleted fb years ago but was forced to come back in order to utilize fb ads on a project awhile ago... shit is cooked - and relatively speaking, your interaction w/ ole boy was pretty average coming from marketplace :winkwink: i just picture everyone being like that ed bassmaster skit on there

lol someone could make a serious killing leveraging conspiracy groups into trump products / etc rn tho holy fuck. its a literal lay up to fear bait & convert these ppl - its 2025 gotta think wayyyyy outside the box if your gonna make any real $$ in this racket just startiong out especially

but I digress, cheers fellow autists.

Sounds like the first time you've used Facebook Marketplace. ;-)

I list higher than I want, I know my lowest price. If they show up with less than agreed-upon, I say no, but for the most part I just want to get rid of things. Also they will "magically" find the money, since they made the trip. Always make the meeting place convenient for you, not them.

It's a haggle, not a department store. Somebody shows up? Sell it.

Facebook market is a cheapskate haven . . .

Idk, on marketplaces people always have the feeling they need to negotiate. Beeing angry about that is not right imo. Yes even if its just 5$ - its about the negotiation.

My pro tipp for the future - always place the price 20% over what u want at least. If u put in the item for 100$, you easy get rid of it for 80$ and someone have the feeling he saved something with good negotiations.

EddyTheDog 10-28-2025 10:14 PM

I could never haggle - I'm more likely to offer you an extra fiver than anything else - If I am the seller though, you won't get a penny off - The price is the price and that's it...

Jman 10-29-2025 11:14 AM

He just wants to brag that he negotiated a deal. Tell him you will meet him halfway on the price and the delivery, and see what he says ;)

This is the running joke on Facebook but the reason is because when someone goes to contact you it's the default message in the facebook chat box.....

The amount of people who just click the default message is crazy. It took me a long time to realize those "Happy Birthday, Firstname! emoji emoji emoji" from people you haven't spoken to in a decade was just a clicked prompt when they opened the app.

Why did that take a while to figure out though? It does the same thing for you when it's a friend's birthday

You can get anything you want in life... as long as you know how to ask!
