ffmpeg
i knew this was coming. 4 hours of awesomeness - what a Thursday morning gift!
https://open.spotify.com/episode/4sB...4411efd2df4299 PS. if anyone here doesn't know what ffmpeg is... you don't belong on the internet. |
just recentlu integrated ffmpeg into one of my javascript apps for transcoding.
|
What's an 'internet'??
|
It's becoming super weird with how desperate you are to prove you're some brilliant technologist. What's driving it? Are you trying to get clients? Are you just so unfulfilled in your life that dunking on mouth-breathers on an adult board makes you feel smart?
It's kind of bizarre, to be honest. |

ffmpeg is an amazing project, and lex fridman mentions it often during interviews so the fact that he finally got people from ffmpeg (and vlc) for an interview is very exciting. ffmpeg also runs one of the best x.com accounts ever. this thread has no other motive than to share excitement. i do not need clients, i have clients.
it takes a clueless cunt like mahadeva to try to turn something beautiful into something ugly :2 cents: |

And since when is it improper to offer your business services? Why shouldn't he list out the skills he can offer. That's kind of what GFY has been about since the beginning. Kind of bullshit posts on your part, imho. :321GFY |
Not sure what to do without FFMPEG.
Didn't listen to the podcast though. They said it's good? It is. |

I think he’s got a point there, kid. Most of us professionals have used the tool for years. I can write a script that would ‘cut the watermark, re-encode the video, tilt it 9 degrees south, delay the audio by 1%, and layer another watermark’ .. and yes, it would pass any validation. I can kick it off with a " python3 do_shit.py" command and sit back and watch while it makes the money. Listening to you is like listening to a 101-level student lecture the teacher on how to write a ‘Hello world’ script, then add, ‘I can do it better.’ … No hard feelings, but take a fucking chill pill, junior. Really working the room with that confidence |

He posted about a 4 hour interview with people from the ffmpeg project. I have no idea how proficient he is but I do know, from his posts, that he gets off on technology. So, now :321GFY . |
thank you, sarettah. i really don't understand what the negativity is for or what does this have to do with my skillset (which i am happy to discuss if anyone's interested. while my codebases are private, my projects are not exactly a secret - i even built a portfolio and posted it on gfy recently). again, this thread really was about sharing my excitement. i woke up, saw spotify notification of 4 hour long lex fridman ffmpeg episode and i was like hell yeah, and i sent the link to a few people on telegram and posted this thread. i really am that simple.
people coming in saying things like they know how to run a python script and knowing the difference between python and shell scripts... what the fuck is wrong with you? PS. i may have worded part of the opening post wrongly. i may have assumed that ffmpeg is more mainstream than it actually is. i did not mean to put anyone down or brag... and brag about what anyway, me staring at computer screen all day every day? i've said this before and i'll say it again: i am not interested in keyboard wars, i've just turned 40 years old :/ the thread got derailed by idiots, farang is out. |
To help you understand, it came from when you said "PS. if anyone here doesn't know what ffmpeg is... you don't belong on the internet."
It was so unnecessarily elitist sounding, that I gave my opinion. I was pretty harsh, and truth be told I did confuse you with Duced. I went back and looked, and I think he's the one I was thinking of. Please accept my apology, in that case. I love ffmpeg as well. |
now let's all join hands and sing kumbaya
and a 1 and a 2 and a ....... . |
Last tine I have checked, this forum was: "Adult Webmasters Forum" NOT just "technogeeks" forum.... BTW what is ffmeg anyway :2 cents:

I am probably being thick, but why would most people be interested in ffmpeg?

And now, back to our regular programming, where AI programmers proudly explain to the world the things most of us real geeks learned 25 years ago and almost forgot because we are in our old age |

It is not an either/or. He gets intro tech, he is a techie. That does not indicate any level of actual proficiency, it just indicates what he likes. I am not a techie. I have been programming and doing development going on 40 some years and I am quite proficient in the languages/platforms I work with, but I am not a techie. For me, it is something that I tend to be good at and I can earn a living wage at but I do not eat/breath/sleep tech, I hardly speak techie, lol. So, as I said, it is not an either/or. . |

not all het up about a ffmpeg doc but can get all enthused such as one recently regarding low income housing strategies; we all have our things the program is incredibly useful, loved your reply. and S's standing up for someone just over-enthused in sharing something real men apologize when they goof so props for that |

I love reading a bunch of retards get mad at another retard for talking about tech.
The tard yard is a delightful place. |
Also the ffmpeg X account is a mouthy shit who doesn't know what he's talking about at all and using the project itself's status to bolster his engagements. He's been shut down by many more skilled than him multiple times and his only retort is the same played out "talk is cheap, send patches" but of course the tard yard eats it up.
|
I'm just here for the drama.

For adult production ffmpeg is one of those boring tools that quietly runs half the business. Transcoding previews, cutting teasers, normalizing audio, making thumbnails, checking duration/codec before delivery - it saves a lot of manual pain when you handle content every day.
