anyone else here left handed?

for as long as i can remember, i have had the most difficult time writing on cd's and whiteboards (anything that requires a marker of sorts). the ink just smudges all over the place and it's annoying. writing with a pencil use to be a real problem cause the lead would get all over my hand. i would switch to my right hand but my writing isn't as clear (obviously).

anyone have any recommendations (other then telling me to cut off my left hand...hahaha) on how to prevent smudging? after 30 something years, you would think i would have found a solution already :)

Lee 07-13-2003 08:53 AM

Learn Arabic and write in that :winkwink:

JFPdude 07-13-2003 08:54 AM

hmm I'm left handed but don't expierience the problems you write of.

However I hate when people hold a form in front of me to sign and won't let me turn it to where it is comfortable for me to sign it.

if you want my signature on this line _____

I have to turn it this way

lol right!

thats pretty much the way i write now! i start at the bottom, work my way up and left. god how stupid that must sound...lol

Lee 07-13-2003 08:57 AM

Well I am left handed and for as long as I can remember I have written in a kind of upside down wayin that my wrist forms an arc over the text. Looks ungainly but it avoids smudging.

Jakke PNG 07-13-2003 08:59 AM

I think all left handed people should be .. uhhh.. umm, nevermind.

i tried that and it just doesnt work for me. i try to write too much like a right handed person with my left hand (if that makes any sense). now here's the kicker (and i blame my grandfather for this); I do EVERYTHING else with my right hand. i can throw a mean football with my right hand, swing a bat right handed, swing a golf club right handed, cut food....the list is endless. my grandfather tried to change my "hand" habits when i was a kid and this is what turned out. damn family cant mind their business. his reasoning was that right handed people were more successful. its no wonder im all screwed up....lololol

Hahahaha exactly the way I write as long as the paper is turned so no other human can possibly think I'm going to write on it.

LMFAO

and yup thumby is a lefty too :thumbsup

JerryLee 07-13-2003 09:18 AM

Look for felt tip pens with "quick dry" ink. I used to go out with a lefty who ordered them from some online left handed products store.

Cassie 07-13-2003 10:01 AM

you are saying there is a left handed store out there somewhere? now i am really amazed....hehehe people will sell anything won't they! :1orglaugh

Chris 07-13-2003 10:01 AM

skrog 07-13-2003 10:03 AM

I am right handed when it comes to lots of things. But when I am beating my meat. I become left handed. :Graucho I need to hold the mouse with the right one.

OMG! they have a left handed keyboard!!!!!

now how do they expect a left handed person to use that? i have been using the same type of board for over 10 years. i could never change to that but this site is something that's for sure! :1orglaugh

has anyone else ever been able to use left handed scissors? i'm telling ya, i am really screwed up this way. i wonder if this is why i hear voices.....lol (j/k)

-=HUNGRYMAN=- 07-13-2003 10:48 AM

OK ... here's a new twist Carrie ...

What about those of us who write with out RIGHT hand ... but I golf left handed ... I swing a baseball bat left handed ... I use a left handed hockey stick too ...

I jerk off with either hand (or sometimes switch off - sounds crazy, but each hand feels like a different person ...LOL!!:1orglaugh )

jasonir 07-13-2003 10:48 AM

It must really suck to be left handed. :(

Peaches 07-13-2003 10:52 AM

My son is left handed, but uses a mouse on the right side, and plays baseball, hockey, golf, etc. right handed. I THINK he throws left handed, but I can't remember. When he was little, his biggest problem was scissors - they never had any left handed ones at school and using the right handed ones with the left hand never really cut anything.

They say it's hereditary, but there is NO ONE on either side of the family that's left handed......I brought the wrong one home! :eek7

There are left handed stores in Atlanta at a couple of the larger malls. :)

oh yeah i forgot about that. those stupid trapper keepers with the big metal paper rings. we were required to use them but i used legal paper instead and when i was sent to the office for "disobeying", i told the vice principle that it was discrimination to make me use something i couldnt write in. what i used should not reflect the work i do nor the grades i received. i was sent home that day however i was never required to use those things again. :thumbsup

thry learning how to write script in a catholic school based in dublin when left-handed, that was my early introduction to the joys of bondage at the hands of nuns... i spent many hours w/ left wrist lashed to my desk to keep me from writing w/ it. i still have my deeply ingrained fetish for punishing women dressed as nuns to this day.

us left-handed people will someday rise up and slaughter all of the jealous right-handers in a joyous orgy of blood, entrails and sperm... the left day approaches..!

C_U_Next_Tuesday 07-13-2003 11:14 AM

lefthanded, but use both hands to do most everything....comes from learning with right hand cause left hand got "fucked" up once:1orglaugh

stocktrader23 07-13-2003 11:14 AM

I write right handed but I throw left handed. This can be a problem because I like to catch with my left hand too. When I played T-ball as a kid I used to catch with my left hand. Throw my glove off, then throw the ball. I can bat left or right handed though.

I wouldn't have survived. I'm too much of a rebel to have my hand tied to a desk. I would do something like smash the nuns right hand up and tell her to try writing with the wrong fucking hand.

they were allowed to do that? i went to public school so they really couldn't do anything after 7th grade (big scandal on corporal punishment in school).

heh... keep in mind this was in ireland, and 20 years ago. its ok, i've had my revenge a hundred times now in seedy Tokyo pleasure houses... never a problem getting a girl dressed in a nuns habit there, and as i said, the left day will come..

you can buy one at Staples or any office supply place for about $10 US

I'm writing left handed, golfing right handed (never tried left),
play guitar right handed, play drums (equally well/bad on left/right handed kits)
Play tennis/squash equally well/bad left/right handed.
Yerk off with both hands ;-)))
Operate mouse left/right handed.
Smoke right/left handed
Drink/eat right/left handed

I have quite well developed motor skills I guess. It's an
advantage of playing drums where you have to work with
both arms and legs completely independent from eachother.

WTF does being left handed have to do with smudging? If I'm right handed and I watch myself write in front of a mirror, my mirrored-self doesn't smudge, and he's left handed.

completetosser 07-13-2003 12:19 PM

I've been left handed for 48 years :)

But some things I do left handed and other things I do right handed.

Usually, anything that takes one hand I will do left handed, but things that take two I'll do right handed. So I'll hold a knife in my right and a fork in my left - but when it comes to dessert I'll hold the spoon in my left. I'll hold a hammer in my left hand, but a power drill in my right.

Some things I can do with either hand - like catching a ball or holding a bat - but I can only throw with my left.

My writing is atrocious - I was taught to write with an ink pen but when you're left handed it smudges it instantly. That's why God invented computers and printers :)

TDF 07-13-2003 12:20 PM

i do everything left handed except write

i couldnt agree with you more on that! once i learned how to type, my handwriting (which was actually very neat and professional) went to shit. now i scribble everything and hope others can read it. if not, then they get a printed sheet which takes me 2 mins to type out as opposed to 5 mins to write!

That's not the same thing - if you are left handed, the pen is actually to the right and as you write your hand/wrist goes over what you've just written - if you're right handed you are effectively moving away from what you've written because it's to your left if you see what I mean - your hand is moving right over a blank piece of paper and what you've written is to the left.

Try it and you'll see what I mean :)
