New Iraqi Holiday. Celebration of Saddam's fall
"Iraq's new governing council met Sunday for the first time, and its initial acts were to cancel all holidays "linked to the old dictatorial regime" and name April 9, the date of Saddam Hussein's fall, as a new national holiday. "

I think there will be many people toasting.
The US will be in Iraq for 50 years... just like Germany and Japan ( where our troops are still stationed). I think we can stablize the region over this time. I also think being stationed in Iraq will eventually be good service - 25 years from now, US Soldiers will mill about all the historical places through out Babalyon and bring back stories, and photos of a great country. If we can get Iraq close to where Germany and Japan is now, that will be a great success!! People forget 50+ years ago Germany and Japan were run by dictators. They also forget that Europe was constitently at war with itself for 1,500 years or so.... but not any longer. Figured the US should at least get a thank you! Colin, I am assuming you are going to be at the show in Hollywood? I think we need to practice our toasting! :Graucho |
