SEO Question... Dynamic pages VS Static pages
Hey guys... I need some advice here.
I run a (non-adult) graffiti site. I have over 1300 pictures. Right now, I have all the pictures divided up into 154 thumbnail galleries of 9 pics each. Each thumbnail links to the full pic on an HTML page. Each gallery has a drop down menu linking to all the other galleries. Each full pic has a drop down menu leading to the other full pics. ALT tags, meta tags, etc are all there. Now I'm assuming this is good for SEO. But when I add a new gallery, I have to recreate every gallery and full pic page and reupload it. Obviously, this is a pain in the ass. I can do it a lot faster and easier with a dynamic gallery using PHP. I'm assuming this isn't good for SEO. My question how significantly different would my SE ranking/traffic be if I opted for a dynamic gallery vs a static gallery? I appreciate the help! |
The drop down menu's are in j-a-v-a-s-c-r-i-p-t? Then google won't follow them, I think

use apaches mod rewrite and rewrite the url's

each gallery also has a static link to previous, next, first, last as does each full pic page. |
I'd need to see your html page to let you know for sure, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by your post.

Make the whole thing dynamic and then tell the server that .htm/.html should load php and then the SEs will not know the difference... It will look satic to them...

most of my sites are dynamic, and the SE's don't seem to have a problem. If you're adding sites like you want to do, just make sure you have a real basic sitemap in plain HTML that you keep updated. Spiders like sitemaps!

google ignores meta tags. title is more important.
as for java, a cool way is to do something like this hahahahahahahaha LANGUAGE="hahahahahahahahahaha" src="java.js"></hahahahahahahaha use that and put your script in the java.js file. make sure you dont have the <hahahahahahahaha </hahahahahahahaha in the java.js file though. this way cuts your code down and spider ignores the java. This is useful as google doesnt index that much of the page when it spiders. as gfy has edited it, it doesnt make any sense. but basicly just use and external java script and include it instead of having it on one page static is way better, with keyword rich text added |
i think i'm going to drop the whole drop down menu thing all together (at least on the full size pic pages). i just realized that because each full size page links to over 1300 other pages, each page is 112 KB, not including the pic and buttons. eesh!
the site isn't up yet, but i just uploaded a sample of a gallery page as it is right now. i'm trying to get listings under grafitti, montreal, bombed and bombing or any combination. |
whats your tag? :)

The page parses as clean HTML. As far as a search engine sees it is not dynamic in any sense.

Search engines have had to keep up with the times. For a long while now .php extensions have been followed.
Hell, some of the SEs can now actually spider text and links found inside Flash. Forget where but I had found it (so don't ask for the URL) but I came across a Flash spider emulator about eight months ago. Tried it out on a site I had where I knew what was in the Flash, and damn if it didn't extract the text and the links perfectly! |
