pornguy 10-27-2004 12:34 PM

Thanks. I will not put mine in there, then.

What you should be doing is selling the info on what stock you plan on crashing.

boneprone 10-27-2004 12:34 PM

I dont even want to add up my gambling losses this month.

Gambling is an addiction. You've got muliple ways of getting your fix.

Let someone else manage your money, and get help for the gambling.

Just looking out. :2 cents:

damn dude. you need to quit gambling. just throwing money into stocks on a whim is a terrible idea, unless you can afford to lose the money.

Wiggles 10-27-2004 12:41 PM

damn give me your money instead, i gauranteed in like 10 years i'll have it back to you :)

The Heron 10-27-2004 12:41 PM

It isn't useful for a small investor to bother investing in individual stocks to try and beat the market. Why waste your time with that when you can simply buy the market and get your 12% return with much less risk? Makes more sense.

That is why I stopped playing the market, I figured it wasn't fair to the other investors

boneprone 10-27-2004 12:42 PM

My sports I have reported earnings in the green year after year.

I have to come up with shit just to write it off.

But this stock shit... ITs bullshit..

Ive lost my ass this month.

JESUS..

SIRI earnings killed some growth for me today too.

Few weeks ago it was netflix.

tomorrow it will be dreamworks.

Darkystar 10-27-2004 12:42 PM

that's because all you do is gamble,
even when you think you invest - you still gamble,
that's why you lose

read this brilliant book about investing and thank me later :winkwink:

yawn..

I need more action.

If there aint action then it bores me.

My wife plays that shit. Slow and safe.
So at least as a couple we'll be ok.

Im due..

I cant keep loosing. Its mathmatically impossible.

boneprone 10-27-2004 12:51 PM

Ohh.. One last FUCK YOU to APPLE...

I had a bid to buy a lot of APPL before the quarterly report a few weeks back.. Missed it by 15 cents!! 15 fucking cents....

If i had got in, id be way in the green this month..

ITs weird how just the littlest of things make all the difference between 10's of thousands of dollars.

Wheather it be 15 cents in a limit order in buying something that takes off, or a 2 point ponit spread fucking you by half a point till the very end.

Its just ironic.

Makes me laugh..

Im fucking laughing. ha ha.

Jesus fucking Christ. I feel like killing someone.

still laughing.

I need to get out. Lunch time.

detoxed 10-27-2004 12:51 PM

LOL im a money managing pro

boneprone 10-27-2004 12:53 PM

as a kid and while in college back in the mid 90's i was alwasys broke.

My mom always told me i needed to manage my money better.

The excuse then was "i have no money to manage mom"

I just laughed..

Well now I do, and my mom still says it to me.

I still tell her " i have no money to manage" and she just looks at me like im kidding..

Painful.

boneprone 10-27-2004 12:55 PM

The look she and my wife gave me early last spring when i told them i was paing 5k for a greyhound was classic though.

Even more so when i asked my mom if she wanted half ownership of the racing dog.

After a lecture in dolby digital surrond scream from both my mom and my wife, I decided it was a "bad" investement in buying that racing dog..

What could have been.

what could have been....

Till this day i wonder how that dog would have done.

I will never know.

boneprone 10-27-2004 12:57 PM

I was gunna name the greyhound "boneprone"

classic ehh?

quiet 10-27-2004 12:57 PM

i used to do quite a bit of gambling when i was younger. from around 18 to 25, i was really into blackjack. won money, lost money. looking back now, i think i was addicted. but one day i'd just had enough and decided to quit. cold turkey. now every year i like to go to a casino and walk around, just watching everyone gambling, and feeling very glad that's not me anymore.

Yep.. When i was in college going to grad school I would skip my boring graduate classes and drive 1 hour to the casino.

I racked up a 30k credit card debt .. For a kid who was doing internships at 8.00 and hour and only reporting 12k a year income it was a huge debt to swallow..

After I paid off that debt, you can say i lost that love for casino gambling..

Since then ive never been big in casino gambling.

Its evolved more to sports and stocks.. Something i tell myself i have more control over.

Hmmmm..

Evolution of man at its finest.

Things really arent as bad as im making them sound..

But its pretty sad..

- I missed investing in google, and instead put into yahoo...
Anyone following stocks knows what google has done since its IPO.

-I missed investing in Apple earlier this month by 15 cents in a limit order that would have made me a killing... It was the day before thier earnings report that shot them up to where they are right now.. Jesus..

- Took a risk and invested in netflix since i missed apple..
I knew damn well netfix is no apple, but knew netflix earnings would be record high which it was.. But the future outlook report was bad and it dropped 30 % in one day.. 30% of 17k is a lot.

Then I put money in Sirus Sattlelite radio. Earnings come out today and its down about 10 cents per share.. Not too bad, but fuck, everything else in todays market is killing and kicking ass. But im stuck in sirus..

Jesus.. Just cant win..

I havent bet on sports since the ALCS, but ill tell ya it is a lot more fun loosing in sports than stocks..

Overall im not killing myself, but the constant pecks at my financal pride is hurting..

Thats all.

Just a GFY rant.

DatingGold 10-27-2004 01:09 PM

When you buy think long term and you'll make money.. :2 cents:

paxton 10-27-2004 01:13 PM

Index funds. :)

Not sexy, not exciting, but a solid long-term way to grow money, keep expenses down, and stay tax efficient (most index funds minimize taxable distributions).

Of course, if anyone is too macho to own a wimpy "mutual fund" they can always buy the ETF equivalent and tell their friends and family they own stocks. :thumbsup

I could go on and on about the advantages of passive investing over active investing ... but I won't.

boneprone :( Everytime I see you around, you're investing in the next best thing or betting on the SURE bet and you come back with your pocketbook thinner and your ego even worse :(

Take a 6 month hiatus from everything - just put your money in the bank or invest in realestate. Don't gamble, don't bet and put your money in index funds for that time. Don't worry so much about what you'll make but think of what you won't lose and all the anger and frustration you've done without.

That's just my 2 canadian cents that the value is growing daily ;)

Peaches 10-27-2004 01:20 PM

Me too! I've decided to just bury any extra cash in the yard. I'll do better that way :(

You need to buy AFTER the 30% dips.

Or get to know a stock's trading range.

You're Asain right? Rearrange some of your furniture and get some red color in your home/apartment. It will change your luck.

gdog 10-27-2004 01:39 PM

Take look at these 3 mutual funds.
The first 2 have my retirement fund in it and the last one has my personal money in it.

All of them in the last 5 years have made me alot of money and I am still way, way up after taking out a ton of money out of each of them.

Also hold your money in the bank until elections just to see if it goes up or down, if down get your money into construction developer stocks or even Sirius for the Howard Stern wave to come there, Apple is another great stock.

If th trend after elections is up, put your some of your money into 2 of these 3 mutual funds below. Each of these function differently and offer very diverse stocks within their portfolios.

If you need a really great broker, then hit me up. My guy runs the entire retirement fund for the AG Edwards La Jolla branch so he knows his stuff and his been doing this for 30 years.

We bought some "RED" expensive (10k) Persian Rugs just last summer, and it seems to be working..

Now W ejust need to re-arrange the furnature I think and im set.

My grandmother who is big into the chi things and numbers helped us pick our lot for the home, and said it was very lucky the lot number and the address and points its energy in the right area.. SO we are set there with the home!!

Maybe its my home office that needs the "arranging"??

Or maybe i should do all investments on the laptop in one of the other rooms?

it's worth hiring someone that knows what they are doing. I spent 15yrs chasing ipos and just rode the roller coaster up and down. I don't have big days now but it steadily moves up every month.

yeah we have that already..

Most our investments do well. Its just my side gambling wheather it be stocks or sports keeps kickin my ass.

My business does quite well. The adult, and the resturant do well.
Our more conservative investments do well as well.

But this side shit kills me..

Im just doing my normal GFY rant is all.. All is not gone. LOL.

This CNBC show on TV taunts me and I keep transfering funds to etrade..

And then i change the channel to espn and they taunt me and make me bet on sports.

I just cant win.

Dont feel bad, i'm still down 15grand on a tech stock that went to hell. But on a brighter note I made a nice grip on PFE, when I sold out today (1.00+ jump from fri to now). From my standpoint the shorter kept the less risk there is. Look into meds, the number jumps are just crazy if you play it right. It's no fun watching shit go up and down.

But to be honest, there are brighter investments ... I have no idea why we're suckers when it comes to the market.
