SE gurus: Domains on same IP

Attention: SE gurus

Say I got 20 domains on same host - so they all got same IP.
Now, I want to interlink all these domains to create link popularity - but SE spiders don't count links from the same IP as a "linkback"

What do you think of all this ?

I believe that is true for the majority of SEs. I've heard horror (almost wrote whore down http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/redface.gif) stories of people's Class C ip blocks getting ban. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/frown.gif

Although I think you definetly need more than 20 IPs linked to bring up populartiy now adays.

Cheers

Essentially, the link pop SE's see it this way:

one IP# = one site

But you should by all means interlink your sites as much as possible, even if they are on the same IP address, so that all your pages are spidered.

Google counts links from the same sites and same IPS, but it is believed they count it a little less than they do for other sites/IPs.

As far as PageRank goes (Google's Version of Link Pop) It doesn't matter. You get the PageRank no matter which site/IP you are on.

Other sites, such as Altavista have been known to ban entire C Blocks and do a much more arbitrary job of link pop. For those engines it is better to be on different IPs.

I have even heard, and I believe it has some truth to it, that AltaVista goes through the zone files to match things up based on who a domain belongs to.

If you really want to be safe - you would need:

1) Different DNS Servers.
2) Different C Blocks
3) Different Owners listed under contact info.

Note, I do not think this is very necessary, but there have been papers written on 1 & 2, and it is not hard to believe Google might start doing this (to some extent) in the future.

That is the safest way - kind of hard to do once you get up to 100 domains or so http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

Yeah that sucks.
It's a pain in the ass to host domains in different places

Yeah, and I ended up placing number 1 on a free server for a very popular term. I actually paid to have the ads removed, because I think it looks better that way - and I am pretty sure it has worked out so far. I only need to make an extra $5 a month to make it worthwhile.

It was off of freeservers.com (and no it isn't for an adult site) and they declined my credit card saying the address didn't match - I know it does, and I know I used it exactly.

I was actually suprised when I called up that the guy on the phone knew what I was talking about right away (he didn't give me the call your bank or make sure you type it in right excuse) and he was able to go through in his end and push it through.

Google doesn't seem to have a problem with them, but it did take a month longer to get listed. I know, because put the links to that site in the same (and only place) as three other sites - and they got listed at the next index, while it took an extra month for that one. I heard someone else with the same problem (same server) on one of the SEO boards.

Google doesn't use strict linkpop, they use PageRank, but it can help for other reasons - so it is worth a try for non adult sites.

I like freeservers et. al., cause you have the myname.theirname.com. Google seems to treat these seperately.

I scored #7 (although it has been going in and out) for another popular keyword using 20m.com.

not some IP only, for good result with SE spamming they must be from different sub-nets (aka different hosting services)
