I'm thinking about picking one/some up ... anyone on here used one? how was it compared to a regular dildo? and why?

They are not fragile, not by far...I am actually going to make a new video next week for the site...of me running over one with my truck, and it not breaking

glass is cool cause they don't retain any fluids on them, so they are totally sterile each time (as long as they are cleaned properly, the dishwasher works great)....and they also can be warmed up and cooled off, for that extra special feeling

yeah, that is a definate ++++ for glass dildos, they are non-pourous, so they never retain any fluids whatsoever

just throw them in the dishwasher when your done, and everything comes off and they are like brand new

they literally can last your whole lifetime if they are treated properly

Glass sex toys have quite a few interesting features.

Non-porous and ultra smooth so they are easier to clean than other dildos, use less lube, and the lube lasts longer. They definitely won't get that 'plastic' funk other materials can get.
Being super smooth they don't irritate the skin on the inside, yet they still 'caress' the muscles and nerves.

Some women are sensitive to other materials used to make dildos, Pyrex is hypoallergenic. They even use it for large gauge body piercings for those sensitive to other materials.

They are heavier than average, I don't think most people mind until you get into the bigger pieces of art.

They are hard, there is no give, so getting the right girth is very important. Bigger isn't always better with glass.

Jace, I understand that colors weaken the glass.
What is your opinion?

I know that certain specialty glasses do not hold well under stress because of the process used to make the rods, which is why you will never see certain processes or materials used in our dildos.

I have never heard that colors weaken the glass before, and I can assure you that the exact same glass is used to make the color as is used to make the clear.

Let me get Bret on here though, he is my partner and main glass expert, and he will tell it like is :)

I would have to say that colors do not weaken the glass so long as proper kilning and annealing takes place. Basically, some colors cannot safely be used without encasing with clear glass because they are too unstable and not smooth enough that you would want to use them on the outside of a dildo. Other colors are smooth enough that they are okay to use without encasement. Basically, when in the process of making the toy, adding the color or doing any manipulation of the glass, adds stress but it is alleviated when properly annealed through the kilning process. We also use a piece of scientific equipment called a polariscope that makes it possible for us to see any flaws, irregularities or stress in the glass before and after annealing. Bottom line, with all the quality control measures that we abide by with every toy, there is no difference in quality or safety of a clear or colored toy.
