Question about high definition television...

Got my TV all setup. Its fucking sweet. The other night I watched Saving Private Ryan and last night saw a couple episodes of 24. This is officially my new favorite and all time best toy.

Anyway, I want to start taking advantage of my HD capabilities. The tuner is built right in already. So now what do I need to do to get HD programming? Do I call the cable company and they add it to my plan, or do I automatically have it and just need to tune to the right channel? If I do automatically have it, what channels are HD compatible?

Thanks.

You have to get a different box from your cable company that has the hd in it... most times it comes with tivo also

ok, if you have a hd box and an hd tv then you are getting hd channels. you need to get a cable guide and find out what channels are offered in HD

there arent alot (like for instance hbo has 2 hd channels currently, there main 1 and hbo on demand.. i think all the demands are hd) but youll see alot of the reg channels in the hd teir

there is only a few HD ready stations in the US . .to access them you need to buy an HD package from a digital Cable provider ... you'll need to get a digital box ..

call up your cable company and see what they offer for HD channels. You will more than likely have to get a upgraded HD box from them. I have HD package with my DirecTV, I just wish they would add more channels.

It's getting to the point where I don't even watch/record anything not in HD on my 60" now. I surf just 13 total channels out of my digital cable's 100+ channels because only those 13 are in HD. It's gotten to the point where I'd rather watch "Martha Stewart's Home Lockdown Christmas Special" if it's in HD versus some other more compelling content on standard def...

It is, I can't live without a PVR. I reviewed one of the first 10 PVR units in the United States in late 98 for a tech-website, and realized that it was a total revolution. Since then I've grown even more addicted to them than ever, I haven't owned a VCR since.
