Europe/Asia GFY'er: PAL..... how can you stand it???
 

I can't believe how shitty movies look in PAL. PAL has the ability to turn a cinematic masterpiece into a home movie. The look for film is completely eliminated. And the combination of pan-and-scan and PAL is unwatchable. I was always under the impression that with the added lines of resoulution, the quality od PAL would be superior to NTSC. Nope.

Is PAL something you get used to? The movies in the theaters are fine, so I know you've got to notice when you watch something on TV. So how do you deal with it if your format is PAL?

That's what I have heard. However, everything I watched in PAL virtually eliminated the focusing effect of film, making EVERYTHING appear in focus. Hence everything looked like home video. On film, the main character or action is highlighted and the background is blurred, creating a focused focal point.

I might add these are films that are watched on a Cinemax/HBO style network, not DVD.

Sorry but PAL is much better and easy to the eyes than NTSC....
