So i'm at the airport right now ..... (laptop warning)

.....and noticed an interesting sign on the Korean Airlines desk. Besides the normal warning about not taking liquids on the plan, it singled out two laptops that have to have their batteries checked or removed in order to bring them on the flight.

Older Mac laptops and ALL Dell laptops. The warning was especially strict for the Dells laptops. It said the the batteries for them cannot be brought on the plane at all. Not sure how handy your laptop will be without it's battery :upsidedow

Not sure if this is just Korean Air, but thought i'd give a heads up to at least call the airline if you have either of those types of laptops.

Those batteries have been recalled. They catch on fire and sometimes explode... Not too good in a pressurized cabin.

ALL Dell batteries? Holy crap.

Oh... and if someone posted this before I apologize. Had a flight a week ago and didn't see any warning signs like this.

Yeah, it is so unreasonable for them to not want a potentially dangerous battery (had a recall issued) on board.

Take a good last look at your laptop before checking it in as luggage and
don't forget to say bye, bye coz there's a 99% chance you won't ever see it
again. :2 cents:

Make sure you call whichever airline you're traveling on. Still plenty of time to prepare so there are no surprises when you get to the airport. There's still time to ship the battery to your destination if it can't go with you, or to get a new battery. :)

Vitasoy 08-30-2006 10:58 AM

Not all but they probably don't have time to check the serials so they mark them all

nAtuRaLbEautY 08-30-2006 11:00 PM

hell...
what's the use of the fuckin laptop if there's no battery

notabook 08-30-2006 11:03 PM

I can just see this one soon:
?Fat people banned from ALL flights! They can hide plastic explosives in-between the rolls of their fat!?

Tempest 08-30-2006 11:04 PM

More over reaction by idiots... The freakin batteries have to overheat to explode.. they're not going to overheat if the damn laptop is turned off... Too many stupid decisions made without knowing facts... i.e. you can't use laptops on the plane is a far more intelligent rule.
