Nowadays cookies are disabled by default...Are you getting all your referal sales ?
Sponsors absolutely need to track your sales with : cookies + IP + Browsers.
Internet Explorer 6 and up has cookie disabled by default + Almost all security system are disabling them. Take a look at the Email I exchanged with Ryan from Matts Models... ------------------------------ Hello, I downloaded some content in order to make some galleries. - My galleries works better than hosted galleries- But it looks like CCBill doesn't track my ID : h t t p://refer.ccbill.bla bla bla . com me to your site but... When I click on the join page and I view CCBill's source page I see : Reffering ID = ' ' I would like to promote your pages but I don't want to waiste my traffic if my sales are not tracked. Had to use this surfer form... There is no other way to reach you ! Sincerely -------------------------- Hey Might be an obvious question but do you have cookies enabled? I checked your affiliate ID and CCBill says you are active. You can also send traffic directly to the site using: h t t p://www.mattsmodels. c o m/refer/bal blabla This works for every page too, so you can send your traffic directly to any model, video or set you promote. Check on your cookies and lemme know.. Thanks! - Ryan --------------------------------- Hello Ryan, Thanks for your reply. You know that, by default, IE6 and up disables cookies as a "security feature". I am pretty sure sure the average user won't enable their cookies. The main question is : Do you also track with browser and IP ? Because the cookie tracking is not suffisiant in 2006. Thanks for your time, ---------------------------------------------- Its sufficient for several thousand members of our site and every other site. Including major mainstream sites. Cookies are industry standard. We won't be changing our system. Thanks - Ryan _____________________________________ Now... Are you loosing sales ? |
That's kinda scary i must say...

ie doesn't disable cookies by default
it disables malicious cookies by default I have not made any changes to cookies in IE7, I am going in now Mine is set on LOW - Blocks third party cookies that do not have a compact privacy policy - Restricts third party cookies that save information that can be used to contact you without your implicit consent so, you are wrong, cookies are not disabled and to think about it, if they were, it would shake up the internet world like crazy.....there is so many sites out there that depend on cookies |

Yes, there are disabled by default : http://www.uwec.edu/HELP/internet/java-ie6.htm#return However, CCBill offers the feature to track with : - only cookies - IP Address and Browser Digest - IP/Browser and Cookie - IP/Browser or Cookie Now. Are you sure your sponsor is tracking all your sales ? |

Just so everyone knows this is the default.
Medium High: Blocks third-party cookies that do not have a compact privacy policy or that use personally identifiable information without your explicit consent. Blocks first-party cookies that have a compact privacy policy which specifies that personally identifiable information is used without your implicit consent. First-party cookies that do not have a compact privacy policy and cookies that were already on your computer before you installed Internet Explorer 6 are leashed (restricted so that they can only be read in the first-party context). Per-site privacy actions override these settings. |
Most sponsors don't use cookie based tracking as a main tracking method for clicks or sales. It's a backup tracking method and often is used for referral tracking.

Correct ! However, it seems like some sponsors are not even aware that cookie tracking is not reliable nowadays. Just read my first comment. |

btw, I don't know what this is
http://www.uwec.edu/HELP/internet/Images/cookie.gif but I haven't seen IE's control panel look like that since like IE5 or IE4 |
we also have private modes in google chorme, IE8 and firefox. cookie are things of the past when it comes to tracking |
it's about time someone makes a thread like this.

All my sites check for cookies on each click on a thumbnail or link, as do many other traffic trading scripts, and the number of surfers that don't accept cookies is a fraction of one percent, most likely spam bots and other webmasters. |

Disable your cookies and then do a test sign up. |
