alternatives to alexa?
 

Ok, I hear a lot of people saying alexa ranks are garbage cause not everyone has the toolbar installed. True, but since only X percent of population has it installed and its been installed on a random amount of random population segments, wouldn't it have the same effect as the way television ranks their viewer numbers (by having boxes installed with 1 mil viewers and multiplying it by a 100) ? What's so wrong with alexa?

I would also love to know about alternatives that you DO consider good ways to see how well your site is doing.

comscore... Alexa can be manipulated, but its a halfway decent barometer if you know how to read into it.

google trends for the site name and overture for the site name - if it's something unique.

I just like having people talk about my site, it's always great to spot some forums where people link and like your galleries or talk about your blog posts etc.. To me an active site is a sign of success.

Closely followed by the amount of sales I make.
