$1000 Signup Bonus

I'm building a new program for a client of mine. It is a partnership program. I suggested to her that
she would get more webmasters if she offered a Signup bonus for her affiliates. My suggestion is $1000 paid to webmasters after they have sent X number of signups.

My question to you: after how many signups should the bonus be paid?

100 signups?
150 signups?

Pls post your responses here.

After all research and coding/beta is done, program should be ready in about 1-2 months.

I dont run a pay site or an affiliate program...but the first thing that came to mind was what are you charging for the membership and what are you paying the webmasters?

Just wondering... and the $1000 sounds like a sweety deal!

Charge for paysite is : $19.95
Content is updated daily
Partnership ratio for webmasters is: 65% [this is an absolute % no deduction for fees/reserves etc] the program keeps 35%

it will take them 200 signups just for you to get $1000 paying out 65%

that doesnt include content or bandwidth costs

The client is less interested in recouping the $1000 [it will be recouped via retention] than in building a loyal base of affiliate webmasters...... so 100 signups or 150 signups for the bonus to kick in? or maybe 75 signups?

The Craze 08-03-2002 10:15 AM

After 2 signups. that would be good.

DjSap 08-03-2002 10:19 AM

99 signups, good number to use in marketing...

even better - sign up a 100 times, get the $1000 bonus, and a couple months later chage it all back through the credit card company, not the processor - so they get billed 3X for it.

You should only offer cash and prizes to those few affiliates that you really value...

Look how Lensman bought Lightningfree a SUV -- that's the way to go...

Only tards fall for gimmicks -- and tards don't make mad $$$.

Key to recouping investiment is volume, retention, and loyalty.

I value all webmasters that send me their hard earned traffic. But I agree, Rewards system in addition to the $$$ sign up bonus.

I don't know about cars though. How about vacations and trips or content gift certificates?

nocostporn 08-03-2002 01:41 PM

dude there is a reason it took 200 signups just to get a PS2 from ARS... what if 50 webmasters reach 75 signups in the first week, will she have $50k to payout or what?

Frank W 08-03-2002 02:08 PM

That's why we're looking at 150 or so signups. There's also serious anti-fraud issues that have not yet been addressed.

If you find one one sign me up as well, thanks Champ!

Now back to reality...... I'm leaning towards 150 sign ups to activate the $1000 bonus. Feedback?

So make it an INVITE ONLY program to people that can deliver? How about smaller players that take a bit longer to reach the payoff level?

RogerV 08-03-2002 02:51 PM

who's the 3rd party processor?

we have a similar bonus structure
on $1 trials not an active member

25-50= $100
50+ = $250
and you have a 2 week pay period to do it.

I think These bonus incentives are great.

Good luck and be carefull!

I guess I'll talk to EscortBiz how this promo system works out for him. Unlike his prog, this system has no cut off date. Watch out for the announcement [it will also have a REWARDS surprise for top producers].

nocostporn 08-03-2002 03:41 PM

no offense but I was just thinking,$1000 bonus or not,if your program is just starting out nobody is going to risk sending you 150 signups for a bonus they might never get...you would have to be up for a few months to gain some kind of trust... but that was your plan right? :winkwink:

Thats a fair comment. The plan is to beta test the tar out of this bad boy, buy/lease some traffic from differing sources as well as my own and friends' networks. Once site is built and testing is over [1 to 1.5 months] release it to certain webmasters first then general release later.

To be honest with you, if all new programs met with suspicion then nobody would sent traffic nowhere. The idea of a limited release was noted earlier above by TheFly.

TheFLY 08-03-2002 06:46 PM

I used to get Christmas cards from Gamma -- damn what a nice touch! And look how ScoresCash invites you to pay them a visit to their showroom for a "tour"... Oliver Klozov invites me to a birthday party... That kind of love doesn't cost very much but it goes a long way even to guys that don't push tons of signups...

*tear*

Hope nobody took offense to my tard statement :)

Pornwolf 08-03-2002 06:58 PM

Damn. That reminds me I have to send Sexy Tara and the Scorescash crew some more traffic. They have a pretty nice program. Scorescash <--No ref link!

Paycom sends out greeting cards as well. Class outfit.
